Works really well

I use my 530 for mountain biking, commuting, and on my trainer. It works really well for all 3 of these applications. MTB: Lots of nice features. I got it primarily for riding unfamiliar trails. The maps work well and can get you where you want to go. It is fun to have the different mtb metrics, especially the jumps. Commuting: When I select commute I have it auto start so I just turn it on and ride to work. You can have different data set up for each profile and that is really nice. Trainer: I was able to load my workouts onto it and they work just as expected. There are a lot of features that this device offers. I wanted it for the maps and GPS and have not been disappointed. It starts up quickly and the GPS has worked really well even in the trees, big improvement over my Edge 500. The size is not too big and the screen is big enough to show all of the info that I want to see while riding. I also have the speed and cadence sensors but use a Wahoo HRM and all three are easy to pair.

Data Good, Navigation Bad

I wish I paid extra for the 830 to get the touch screen. Navigating the menu and screens is a real pain using the buttons, especially while wearing cycling gloves. The buttons are too flush with the body and difficult to feel.

There's a learning curve, to be sure -- but once I took it on the first real ride, on trails that I hadn't ridden before, it was clear that it could help me navigate and find trails that I wouldn't have been able to find otherwise. I am still learning about the features -- I think its usefulness will just continue to expand as I use in more and more situations.

It is great cycling computer gives you all the data you need in training time and after on the garmin connect app you can analyse your training data , I have been using it more than 3 months and I never had any issues with it , battery life are very good I change it once a week and I'm active cyclist I ride up to 7 time a week , it is compact , light weight with good size screen so you can have up to 10 data field on one screen

The baseline against which all other bike computers are measured

I've had a couple of these over the years, as well as the older Garmin Edge 520, a 500, and a Wahoo Bolt and I think the 530 is the closest thing to a perfect bike computer. Setup is a little tedious and could benefit from a phone-based app, but once you have it configured, it's simple, intuitive to use, and reliable. Hghly recommended!

It's really slow to reroute efficiently when you go off course. Besides that, I love this little thing.

Great Upgrade - Missing Tiny Marks...

Overall much better than the old 520 it's replacing, but with two caveats: 1) Without some indications on the front / screen of the device, it's hard to know where the side buttons are at to quickly press them during a ride. 2) You cannot easily adjust the screen brightness as you could on the 520. It's buried deep in system settings and I find the "auto brightness" setting inadequate.
