Confusing controls

I'm finding the controls very confusing to use. And, I can't figure out yet how to replace the default ride screen with one that I prefer.

The features are great and the price was budget friendly but not having a touch screen was a problem for me. I personally found the button operation to be very cumbersome so I returned it and got the Edge 830 with the touch screen and liked it a whole lot better.

Excellent upgrade over 130

This is the 4th Garmin I have owned. My last one the Edge 130 was great but not great battery life. The Edge 530 took a few days to get used to the new button functions. Once I had the screens set up like I wanted it has been great. The battery life is a big improvement over the 130 plus all the other features. It is nice to have a map that details the streets etc compared to the 130. Would recommend to anyone wanting a great bike computer.

Question about Strava

Do I have to have my phone with me on a ride or will Garmin record to Strava without it? Such a great system easy to use and set up

Thank you for posting that question, in order to load a recorded ride to Strava or other sites, the device will need to sync to the Garmin Connect system either through the phone app or with your computer first. At first, the UI is a bit confusing and the instructions are vague. But once you understand the setup features it’s a great device for all bike types and abilities. I especially like the recovery score based on resonant data.

Edge 530

I bought the edge as an upgrade from my previous Garmin 520 which is 6 years old. I love the battery life, significantly improved. arm little challenge turning it off as you have to toggle down 3 screens to power off and i believe hit the Right Master upper button but it's hit or miss. I just figured out how to add 10 screens of data and that is extremely helpful. The real time Navigation with sharp turns, round about...is a great feature and significant improvement. My only regret is my bike stem mount snapped on pot hole and my Garmin Edge less than a month old cracked and died. If I did it again I would upgrade to the touch screen which is the only reason why I gave it a 4 vs a 5 and that is likely because I felt I did not need it based on coming off the 520. Lastly, the connection to STRAVA is not working but that could be a me problem and will need to try to resynch. I did love going off trail with no bars of service on the phone but the Garmin Edge 530 always seemed to know where I was.
