Fast and fantastic but a little buggy

I really like everything about the new Garmin 530; it's faster, better screen, and super user friendly. I came from the 520 and it seemed like Garmin did a pretty good job of getting the kinks worked out of the 520 as it was really stable for the last year that I had it. After I moved to the 530 it's pretty good, but Garmin really needs to iron out of the little bugs in it. It's not enough to keep me from using it, especially how fast it is, but it gives every Wahoo owner a reason not to switch back to Garmin.

Nice toy but not very intuitive

I love having all the metrics on the unit but the 6 buttons are not very intuitive. It's very confusing which buttons control the features. A touch screen would be much easier but I couldn't justify paying an extra $200.

Very happy with this product. It has frozen up a couple times which causes me to do a reset and rebuild my profiles

I returned it. Its unreliable navigation got me lost countless times in Europe, where I needed it the most.

530 sucks

Lots of great features. But very glitch prone. Freezes. Doesn’t sync. GPS gets way off in trees.

Frequent connectivity issues
on October 11, 2019
Posted by: lvomsteeg
The features are alright, but the device frequently has issues connecting to other devices. For example, it frequently drops connections to Garmin power-meters, heart rate monitors, and speed sensors during use. This leads to a loss data collection and reporting workout duration and intensity. Additionally, I've found the Bluetooth connection to my phone to be unreliable. Several times a week, I have to repeatedly try to get my phone to connect to edge 530 unit to transfer workout files.

Very Nice Unit
on October 11, 2019

I bought the Edge 530 as a replacement for my three year old 520. The 520 was a great unit and served me well but I’d read about the features available in the 530 and decided to upgrade. This unit is much quicker to grab satellite signals and the mapping with Trailforks is really nice especially when mountain biking. I also like the ability to customize settings between road versus mountain rides. This thing has so many other features I’ve not tried that I’m certain will enhance my rides. As with some other reviews, I find the buttons somewhat finicky and hard to push or I would award five stars. Aside from that, I highly recommend this unit.

Huge upgrade to the 520 plus
on October 11, 2019

It's processor is faster. The software is updated.
Mostly.. it's faster. So fast. It screams between screens. Very little wait when rerouting or setting it up. The screen is so much more clear and the battery life and battery saving are Superior in every way to previous Garmin devices at this level.
I've read all the reviews and they all repeat the same thing. They say it's a nice device and a tiny upgrade to the 520 plus. Total bull manure. If you ride regularly you'll appreciate the lack of boot lag, quicker connection to All my devices, upgraded Bluetooth so it connects faster there too. This is not a minor upgrade. This is a game changer.
Thank you Garmin. And no.. I'm not an employee.. I didn't take any money (not that I wouldn't ) nor did they give me anything for free. It's just a great product.
