Good Ideas but Room for Growth

The first 300 miles with the Edge 530 were great! The navigation was pretty easy to set up with Strava routes and I checked off some rides with tricky navigation that I have been meaning to do. My main purpose for getting this was for racing/ training though. Training has gone pretty smoothly with uploading workouts but literally 10 minutes into my first race with this device, the screen blacked out! Garmin was great in replacing it but that didn't help the fact that I depended on this device and ended up having to do a race with no metrics. I really hope they can figure out the spastic blackouts since I am apparently not the first one with this problem. As in my situation, they can really screw you over. So buy it! but maybe keep a backup around?

Good Bike Computer Overall, but....

The Edge 530 is good bike computer overall, but I wish I would have purchased the Edge 830. If you can afford the extra cost, the 830 has a touch screen display.
I'm only giving an average rating because of the one Con mentioned below:
Cons- Navigating the menu options using the buttons on 530 is painful to say the least. Unfortunately, many options can only be changed using the Edge 530 buttons. It would be nice if all the 530 settings could be changed via Garmin Connect app or website. This seems technically feasible given todays day and age. With that being said, why even offer a "non touch screen" option?
Pros-The Edge 530 is packed with lots of great features. I really like that I can plan a course on the app or website and sync this to the device for turn by turn directions. The screen is well lit and the charge will last plenty long enough for the average weekend biker like myself. There are lots of sensors that can be connected. I have the cadence sensor and speed sensor, and both were super easy to set up and install. I am getting the heart rate monitor and radar very soon.
I am really looking forward to getting the radar! I have only seen from videos how it depicts the real time traffic on the display, but I can tell you that this is really cool! This is a "must have" accessory when biking in rural areas.

If you’re looking into purchasing this, go all in and choose the bundle. heart rate and cadence are very important when training and the bundle giver you this.

I struggled with the instruction package . Could use better pictures and clearer instructions. Videos on line were very rushed by instructors.

Just got this within the last week. Have not had time to figure out all the functions, but it is very easy to use. Uploads all my rides to Strava instantly
