Edge 530: Fast, Accurate, Reliable
on October 12, 2019

My previous Garmin was a Edge 520. The 530 is much improved. It's faster, includes trail forks, has a brighter screen among various other improvements over the 520. Everything pairs fast, phone, heart rate monitor, speed and cadence sensors, etc. It has a long battery life. I'm very happy with this bike GPS.

Lots of data and awesome battery

Posted by: Big upgrade from the 520
I upgraded from a 520 so will compare the two. The main thing for me is that battery lasts at least 75% longer even with the 530 set to have the display on all the time. The navigation is excellent with very helpful cues and directions if you get off course. When navigating it tells you when you are on a climb, how long it is, where you ate in the climb, and what the grade is where you are and up ahead. It does sometimes have a strange idea however where climbs begin and end. For training it gives me feedback after every ride on the state of my training and what I should add to my workouts to be more productive. Probably because I have a power meter and HR monitor it also track overall fitness things like estimated VO3 max and my power curve. Forgot to mention the screen has color and the buttons and their function are the same as the 520. Thus virtually all aspects of the 530 are far superior to the 520 and you should be happy with your new 530 if you get one.

I like ability to configure screens with data field that I want, and the labeled maps and beeps are nice for riding new routes. Another excellent Garmin product!

Only feature I wish it had was for the HR monitor from my marq athlete to communicate w it so I wouldn’t have to wear a strap to get training effect stats. O/w I love it and haven’t even begun to scratch the surface w it. Looking forward to using it w a trainer this winter

Good improvement, but sticky buttons

Screen and feature upgrades make this a good improvement over the 520. Nothing groundbreaking, but enough improvements (screen resolution, faster processing, and other small features) that make it worth the cost to upgrade. The only downside, as seen in other reviews across various forums, a few of the buttons stick in the depressed position making it annoying to fines into the normal resting position.
