Very easy to use

Have used it for a month and it works great. Other than biking I don’t use all it’s other features. Connects with my specialized turbo Levo so I can see power range and battery condition.I also have a Garmin instinct watch for HR etc. Great combination but the distance Calculation between the two is 10% off. Still trying to figure that out.

More than you really need

Overall, I love my new Garmin 530. In a way, I think it does too much and is too sophisticated, which causes problems. My first one wouldn’t sync with my phone, but Garmin replaced it immediately. My second one has frozen up on one ride, but been bulletproof otherwise. Overall, I am happy with it.
Once you have it set up, the Edge 530 is a capable device. Unfortunately, you must configure the Edge 530 on the device via a series of less than intuitive, complex, and poorly documented menus. While there is a companion phone app, Garmin leverages it minimally. Phone connectivity is sensitive. The app and the device must be restarted to re-establish a stable connection before each ride. All of that said, if you can endure the initial pain, you will end up with a useful cycling GPS with more functionality than the competition, especially when considering the price.

Bought this for training and racing Lake Placid. Loved the ability to plan my routes and follow GPS. Worked great and much easier than only a watch.

Bought this for an Ironman. I was having issues with my 1030 changing screens from sweat. Easy to read and setup. Had the extra windows to see all my info.

Longtime Garmin user here. Replaced a beloved EDGE 1000 with a 530. After unboxing and upgrading to latest software, I was disappointed to experience sensors that would stop working mid-ride and unacceptable GPS performance (especially while mountain biking). It wasn’t until 4 or 5 software/firmware updates (over the course of 8 weeks) did the device start performing in fashion that resembled it’s predecessor. I’m back to loving the device, but didn’t appreciate having to participate in Garmin’s product validation activities.

Great with Connectivity glitches

I like the Garmin 530 so far but have found it to be inconsistent with iPhone connectivity. This isn’t related to ios13 permissions either. Just glitchy product in my opinion.
As a stand alone device it works well. Hoping they’ll improve the connectivity soon.

Awesome Device!

I upgraded from the Garmin 520 and have been quite pleased. The navigation and maps, I really like. I questioned whether it was worth it, as the 520 had worked well for me for quite some time. After using the 530, I found that the screen size, maps, navigation, “back on route” and “back to start” made it all worthwhile. I’m very pleased with my purchase and the device!
