Poor Hinges

Similar to some other customers pictures, my sport tactical 500's broke at a hings and now will not stay tight to the ear. The set has a reasonably low on and off count. Great set of ears for the indoor range before they broke. The break seems to be a result of poor design and cheap plastic parts.

So far, so good

I love the fit and the quality..so far. BUT>>> This is an expensive piece of equipment. You would think that Peltor would market a decent hard case to carry and protect them, rather than a simple cloth bag. Yes, there are several after market hard cases, all with little bitty straps. Come on, these are shooting earmuffs. Something with a real hand strap and/or maybe some molle webbing to attach it to range bag. I know that sporting muffs are not 3M's primary focus but a real case for all their earmuff would be nice

Headband adjustment not well explained
on October 21, 2017

I bought these yesterday. When I first put them on, they were much too tight on my size 7 7/8 head. The instructions, and even consumer youtube videos, do not make it clear how to adjust the height of the ear cups on the headband. The splits at the end of the headband seemed to suggest that the headband itself adjusted, but it does not. Then, after a lot of gentle trial and error (I didn't want to break it by forcing anything) I discovered that the adjustment is made by sliding the cup on the stiff wire that it is attached to.
The headset comes with the cups slid all the way up. After sliding the cups down, the headset was still firmly on my head, but much more comfortable than before the adjustment was made. I don't think I would want the headband much looser, as during noisy outdoor activities I want them to stay in place, and not slide around.
I have not tried them on the range yet, but just wearing them in the house, I think the sound suppression will be excellent while allowing normal conversation and background sounds to be better heard.
So, in summary, there needs to be a better explanation of how to adjust the headband and ear cups on the head band.

Head band is extremely cheap and very uncomfortable. Serious this is high end? Save your money.

Max volume too low for use with ear plugs.
on April 26, 2023

I bought the Sport Tactical to replace my old Peltor Tactical that are 20 plus years old and still working fine. I shoot competition and double up with ear plugs and earmuffs. At high volume, I can easily understand the range commands with my old hearing protectors but not my Sport Tactical 500s. This makes them equal to non electronic hearing protectors. I bought the 500s based on the outstanding performance and durability of my old Peltor Tacticals but I am very disappointed. Also, I thought that I was purchasing the best, also I can't fin any specs on volume making it difficult to find a replacement. I have used my old Peltor Tactical for the last two matches. Still looking for a quality replacement.

Terrible Head band Very Uncofortable

The Headband is so cheap and plastic that it scratches your head. Wearing a hat is a must just to try and improve comfort.

Power button failure

I wouldn't have expected this one. They work fine, when they can be turned on. They've decided to now turn on intermittently.. Not really acceptable at the range. I've been using these with my MantisX with great success at the range, then.. the headphones have decided that they only want to turn on some of the time. Not good..

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this as a product review. It did not disappoint. Exactly as advertised. It would be money well spent.
