Happy with it until it broke

I purchased this about 9 months ago with the rechargeable battery thinking "3M means quality!" And it was, every day at work until pop! The headband broke and now won't retain the earcup against my head. This is a HARD PASS until they get the headband designed right.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent. Tough to fold.

Excellent Bluetooth and voice status. Can hear talking but not the shooting. Very pleased. Problem with flipping to put in containers. Broken piece when flipped incorrectly, hard to know correct way to fold. Piece 7A is the weak link. Except for that huge frustration, really like the product and bought one for me and my son. Now need to figure how to get a couple piece 7A.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought these about a year ago and have been using them a few times a month since on the shooting range, and more recently while mowing my lawn. I figured enough time and use has passed for a good assessment. Ambient sound through them is good, while speaking and listening it sounds quiet natural. Listening to music is ok, doesn't sound great, but definitely useable. I haven't tried a phone call so idk how that goes. I look at those as nice features but not why I bought them so even though the music could sound better, I rate it as low importance. Like others have stated the headband isn't the best and could start to hurt after a little bit. This is the biggest miss in my opinion. If I don't have them adjusted correctly it will get bothersome somewhat quickly. This should have been changed by the 2nd batch. Mine have been pretty durable. I throw them in a bag with other gear rattling around inside and they haven't had any issues. If I needed another pair would I buy them again? If it wasn't for the strap it would be a yes for sure, however right now I would at least look at some others, especially the walkers.

Failure to charge

Had the 500s for 4 years and only used them twice now they won’t charge at all right when I need them. I have an older pair of walkers that take 2 triple a Still work and I will never try a fancy peltor. Now I have to settle on the 25 year old peltor ultimate 10s.

Amazing!! Best I have ever used.

I bought these 5 months back and they are bad to the bone. I've been in IT for over 25 years and this is the best Bluetooth capable headsets that I have ever used, which is range ready. There's some outstanding Engineering going on here.
The only thing I wish could be changed in the menu setting, would be to allow for ambient background sound to continue to flow through, will on a bluetooth phone call. Currently it turns off all background sound when on a call. Or at least have an option to turn it on or off on the fly, from one of the buttons on the side.
Also, If they would offer this set with a boom mic and Bluetooth VOX button, my wife would have to hide my credit card. I'd be buying them for the whole family, lol.
One final thing, please make a 3M Peltor app for Android that could be used for firmware updates and other adjustments from a phone.
Otherwise I would defiantly recommend these.

Fell apart in 3 months

These worked great for 3 months and then they fell apart. I'm a USAF retired veteran (AFSC 2A617A "Jet Engine Specialist") who has used aIl kinds of hearing protection throughout my career. I bought these for my current job testing Jet Engines at a test facility that requires hearing protection. I thought these were a major upgrade with the new technology that we currently have but I was wrong. I have the same issue that everyone else is having. Mine broke around the earpiece on both side These things break way too easy for a 3M product. Very disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not sure if it’s really worth its price point

I’ve owned these for well over a year. I use them anytime I’m shooting and doing lawn work (weedeating, leaf blower, etc.).
Pros:
- Excellent dynamic noise suppression
- Comfortable (after you put the gel cups on)
- Great quality
- Bluetooth

- No volume knob (I wish I could determine the volume)
