Pretty good.

I bought these about a year ago and have been using them a few times a month since on the shooting range, and more recently while mowing my lawn. I figured enough time and use has passed for a good assessment. Ambient sound through them is good, while speaking and listening it sounds quiet natural. Listening to music is ok, doesn't sound great, but definitely useable. I haven't tried a phone call so idk how that goes. I look at those as nice features but not why I bought them so even though the music could sound better, I rate it as low importance. Like others have stated the headband isn't the best and could start to hurt after a little bit. This is the biggest miss in my opinion. If I don't have them adjusted correctly it will get bothersome somewhat quickly. This should have been changed by the 2nd batch. Mine have been pretty durable. I throw them in a bag with other gear rattling around inside and they haven't had any issues. If I needed another pair would I buy them again? If it wasn't for the strap it would be a yes for sure, however right now I would at least look at some others, especially the walkers.

Not so good for a 3M product

I bought my Peltor almost a year ago a week ago I got it broken. The clip that holds the ear piece on the band brokes and I can not find on any online store a way to buy a new piece. Without it, it is impossible to use it. Please, send me a online store that I can buy this replacement piece.

Fell apart in 3 months

These worked great for 3 months and then they fell apart. I'm a USAF retired veteran (AFSC 2A617A "Jet Engine Specialist") who has used aIl kinds of hearing protection throughout my career. I bought these for my current job testing Jet Engines at a test facility that requires hearing protection. I thought these were a major upgrade with the new technology that we currently have but I was wrong. I have the same issue that everyone else is having. Mine broke around the earpiece on both side These things break way too easy for a 3M product. Very disappointed.

Not sure if it’s really worth its price point

I’ve owned these for well over a year. I use them anytime I’m shooting and doing lawn work (weedeating, leaf blower, etc.).
Pros:
- Excellent dynamic noise suppression
- Comfortable (after you put the gel cups on)
- Great quality
- Bluetooth
Cons:
- No volume knob (I wish I could determine the volume)
- Pricey
- Bulky
- Bluetooth isn’t very loud
I would recommend this to a friend!

Amazing Quality & Features, HORRIBLE headband

I love the way this unit attenuates gunfire, airtools, industrial noise while allowing clear speech & bluetooth device access to my cellphone & laptop. I can listen to music while working outside but still answer phone calls or talk to crew members locally but.....
This has the most uncomfortable headband I have ever worn. The ribs literally dig divots into my scalp! I am frantically trying to figure out if another Peltor model's headband can be adapted to my Sport Tactical 500s

Enjoy the features...some issues.

I bought this product in July, 2017 and use it (not always on a firing range) 3-4 times a week for approximately 2 hours each use. All of the parts seem to be of good quality. I never have to worry about them breaking if handled roughly or if I toss them in a bag full of gear. I even accidentally dropped them from around 5' on a tile floor...no problem. The Bluetooth connected easily and it has reconnected 100% of the time when powering up (unlike many devices). I really like the mics. I've tried other products of my friends, in the same price range, and I would rather have these. Good sound pick up and very little hum.
However, there is no getting around it, the headband is uncomfortable. I noticed it within a minute or two and, for me, it's bearable, but it's an issue. I too have folded up a rag to put between the band and my head, but who wants to spend that kind of money only to go around with a rag on your head. Also, my device seems to have a short in the power button. If I hear an electronic click when I press the power button, the unit will not come on no matter how long I hold the button. I have to release it and press it again. This is about 50% of the time and, for me, it's really not an issue because it will power up 100% of the time on the second try.
Without these two issues (particularly the headband), for the price, I would have given it 5 stars...however...

Disappointing

I was looking forward to getting these. I have 2 pair of the Tac Pros and have been very happy with them. I thought the vented headband and Bluetooth features would make a good product better, I was wrong. I wear hearing protection 8-10 hours per day several days a week. With the Tac500's I can even get a couple hours of comfortable wear before I have to change back to my Tac Pro's. The problem is the pressure they put on the ears, the squeezing makes the ears hurt. The ear cups are also smaller than the Tac Pro's, my ear lobe prevents the foam cup from fully enclosing the ear. I don't have big ears and the Tac Pro's didn't have this problem.
