Great ear protection, HORRIBLE comfort.

I am a very petite woman and have trouble finding ear protection that forms a good seal around my ears. I was very excited to try the Peltor 500s because I had been told the ear cups are a little smaller than most. The ear cups are great! They seal well and the electronics provide excellent protection. BUT the headband makes these absolute torture to wear. I don't have a large head, quite the opposite and I could not tolerate wearing these for longer than about 15 minutes. So much potential but sadly they do no good if they're not comfortable and I'm constantly taking them off.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good, but not durable

I purchased this pair of earmuffs in January of 2018. I wear these for 10-15 hours a week (at most) at work as a range officer and firearms instructor. This week, as I was putting them on, plastic pieces fell from inside the headband. I was very happy to recommend this product to customers and coworkers until now. I am surprised and incredibly disappointed that these failed after such a short time, especially given the price of the item. I’ve attached photos as well.

Great protection Terrible comfort

I have had the Peltor Tac 500 ear muffs for a year now and wear them most weekends while shooting at the range. The electronics are fantastic you can carry out conversations like you had no muffs on at all. The sound is directional giving even more natural feel. All this is ruined by the comfort of the ear muffs. For a man with no hair the headband scratches against your skin to the point you feel your head is being cut. Even wearing a cap they are still uncomfortable a woolen beanie helps
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Headband broke EXACTLY like all the others!

I logged on here because these were GREAT, right up until the headband broke at EXACTLY the same spot as everyone else as listed in these reviews. Design flaw... These are EXPENSIVE! and that is such a cheap plastic tab that breaks. Very unhappy

Does as expected but not totally

I am currently on my 2nd set. The first set had the little black band spacer missing and headband seam open. As a shooting headset, it does what it says. Music plays well since I use them at work (shop floor of aviation company). What I dislike is the phone call "feature." Neither of the two sets can hold a call longer than 2 minutes before dropping audio (audio completely shuts down but headset doesn't turn off) requiring use of the phone speaker function. More often than not, this occurs within 30 seconds of attempting to talk using the headset. Don't advertise a function that either needs certain things to happen before working or doesn't work at all. Headset is fed industrial Duracell batteries and constant use gives me about 1 1/2 days of use.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Broken at the same place as shown on other reviews

I liked this electronic hearing protection unit right up until the moment it broke - and I have worn them less than 20 times. They broke in exactly the same place many of the other reviewers have reported problems. The wire mount for the ear cup puts enough pressure on the plastic connecting piece to the head band that a tab breaks and the cup no longer seals against the side of your head. This is a very poor design.

Same problem as others

I got about two years worth of wear from these before the same headband problem occurred. One clip broke and about a week later the other broke. I tried repairing them with duck tape, but to no avail. If duck tape won't fix it, it's a pretty serious design flaw. Ironically, I paid the hefty price these commanded because I thought if I paid that much for them, they would surely last a long time.

Dangerous - avoid this poor design

This is a dangerous product. It fails in the plastic used to connect the head band to the ear muff.
