Designed to fail

The Good:
The sound suppression, Bluetooth, etc work well. Good battery life, voice notifications on status changes (on, off, Bluetooth connect, low battery.)

The Meh:
Comfort needs improvement. Spring for the HY80 Peltor Camelback Gel Sealing Rings. Don't even try the original ones. Note that even these take some custom fit work. The headband will wear you out. Get a headband cover.

The Bad:
They're fine for occasional use, but a couple times a week (for 18 months for me), they're gonna break.

In the attached photo The Cap holds the wire frame to the headband. The frame pushes up on the bottom and pushes down on a plastic tab in the cap. This keeps the ear cup from swinging all the way out and allows the headband to press the ear cup to your head. Eventually, that plastic tab will will bust out. The wire frame will then push on the underlying headband base. This force now will split the cap off the base, breaking two tabs on the base under that cap. (These tabs are not structural but provided dampening on the ear cup movement.) The ear cup will then swing all the way out and compromise the seal.
Enough epoxy and they can be saved. It's just more time and effort into making, and keeping, these useful.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Huge head, great fit

7 5/8 inch hat size, fits great. Cut out on top for baseball cap button. Vocals come through crisp, Bluetooth music comes through great (and volume for music is controlled by your phone, separate from environmental noises picked up by the mic).
I’ve always had a problem with ear muffs lifting up when I turned my head. These make a nice tight seal and don’t do that. Definitely worth the upgrade over the $40 HL earmuffs, no question.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I shoot about 500 rounds per week. I've have tried many different ear protection systems. The PELTOR brand (3M) has never let me down. Therefore, when I got into match shooting and it was necessary both protect my ears and hear the Match Officers commands, I looked to PELTOR. This set is remarkable. Superb suppression and clear conversation. The Blue tooth "bells & whistles" are fun too. I use mine in the shop as much as on the range to listen to music or the news from my iPhone. Yes, you can take phone calls on it. Finally the built in talking lady are a sure way to know the status of the device.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great product, headband could be better

I first saw these at SHOT 2018 and got my pair a few months later. They are small when folded, yet offer 26 DB NRR, which is pretty good for how small these are. My range has noisy fans and these muffs don't seem to amplify white noise while allowing me to clearly hear voices. The work well to reduce the report of just about every caliber, including 357 magnum.
As others have pointed out, the headband could use some more padding. I am bald and the band leaves a mark in my head that lasts for hours.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Hearing Protection

I received a set of the 500's as a gift from the owner of the small chain of ranges/ gun shops I worked for. I can't say enough good about them.
I did enhance mine with the gel muffs, making it super comfortable for the 2+ hours each day of being the RSO. I use them when I teach carry concealed classes and private lessons, and I can't imagine better communication during these times. I hear everything they say.
As a side note, I use them while on my tractor mowing...Awesome blue tooth reception from my Android phone!

Terrible Head band Very Uncofortable

The Headband is so cheap and plastic that it scratches your head. Wearing a hat is a must just to try and improve comfort.
