Not durable

I don't know what type of material covers the foam but it's not durable at all. As a home user these did not see much use but as others have mentioned they crack and fall apart over time. I came to the 3M site looking for replacement parts, because I like using the product, but I don't see any listed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good and Bad

I have had these a while now and they were great until now that they no longer turn on reliably. Sometimes they they turn on but most of the time they do not. Sometimes when when you turn the knob on and they don't come on if you leave them on they will eventually come on by themselves. Great product when they actually work.

What ever you do DON'T LOSE THE INSTRUCTIONS. If later on you want to change something you will NEVER find the instruction on line. 3M makes so many types of ear protection the chance of finding yours to download the instructions are close to zero.

First, I have used Hearing protection worktunes before. 3 different Worktunes over the last 7-8 years. I work at a golf course and we don't stop mowing basically. Last year I decided to research bluetooth and decided that this one was going to be my Christmas present from my wife. I have since been using these "Worktunes" for 3 months now and have decided it is time to review for you folks.
Pros:
1: Radio reception with these are amazing! Having had 3 other worktunes this 3M™ WorkTunes™ Wireless Hearing Protector with Bluetooth picks up stations I was never able to pick up. Even while mowing around the house where I could never pick up but a few stations these will pick up tons more. Excellent work 3m!
2. I like the recall mode better that the preset buttons. These hold more in memory and with talk assist you don't have to worry about which station you just turned to.
3: Bluetooth! Man, how many times have yanked the cord out or worse, knocked my headset off completely because I caught the cord of my mp3 hook up on something. Bluetooth is the main reason I bought these! Bluetooth feature also lets you pause, go back and skip the song with a push of a button.

Last week my 3M™ WorkTunes™ paired up and after a few minutes I kept getting this cut off like I had a short in my headset. Every single time I turned my head to the left the sound would cut off. I finally figured out that the radio worked fine so I just restarted my phone and all was well on bluetooth.

Overall I rate these 9/10 and would buy these again. I also spread the word to fellow coworkers so maybe they will buy these on their next purchase. Folks these are really good for noise reduction and the ability to listen to music. I personally like these best out of the 4 total WorkTunes I've had.

Will be worthwhile when can have both radio and phone answering functionality. Apparently that's coming in 2018 so hope firmware can update my new headset to allow

Good Product BUT...

This is my 2nd pair of work tunes. I used my first pair for over 5 years with no problems. 10 months ago I ordered another pair with Bluetooth, again great product but the ear pads are coming apart on both sides! My original pair never had this issue and I cannot find replacement pads.

Fix for low volume using Bluetooth Sources

I had been using these for about a year to mow grass. One day, the volume level on Bluetooth sources was so low that I could not hear the content (audio podcast) while mowing. This wasn't an issue the week before. Interestingly, the radio played at the normal level.
I've determined that the problem with bluetooth sources not coming through loud enough is the result of an Android update. There is a work around. If you "disable absolute volume" in the phone, and re-pair the headphones to the phone, the original volume level will return when you turn the phone volume up. To disable absolute volume on the phone, one needs to put the phone in "developer" mode. Do a Google search on "disable absolute volume" to determine how to do this. The trick is to make sure that after you do it, to "forget" the headphones in your bluetooth settings and re-pair them to the phone. It would be nice for the manufacturer to put this procedure on their website for the many people who have experienced this problem.

Works great for mowing!

My husband used to work for a mowing company and used these every day for about six months. Now he uses them about once a week while mowing. These are very well made. They cancel noise out really well, but not completely. They take four AA, and last a long time. These have a Bluetooth capability, so my husband rarely uses the FM/AM setting, but he is able to switch back and forth easy. He loves that when you have this paired with your phone it will stop playing the music when you get a phone call. There is no mic though. You are able to carefully take off the ear muffs and hand wash them. For what these are they work very well, but my husband still wishes we got him a headset that isn’t so heavy and bulky. They feel tight on his head, but the upside to that is that they never slip off his head.
I would recommend this to a friend!
