I spent two days scanning specs of different products and the Imageclass is the only one that had all features I wanted. Wireless device with duplex print, duplex scanning, OCR all at a decent speed. My only mistake was I purchased the 741 instead of the 743 by mistake. For some reason 743 does duplex scanning and 741 only does single sided.
The only thing that kind of bugs is the ADF is jam sensitive. Use small stacks for sure :)

Great printer that exceeded my expectations!

I have a home office and have been looking for a printer for a while that would meet my needs. When I got the opportunity to receive this product, I jumped at the opportunity.
I will start off by saying that when it arrived, I was surprised at how big it was. This `small` office size printer is very heavy, and I would definitely recommend having two people available to lift it and get it out of the box and situated where you want it. -I, being eager to get it up and going, did it all by myself, and regretted it mid-way through!
Getting up the printer up and running was very easy. You just have to connect the provided power cord and turn on the printer. After that, all you need to do is just follow the easy prompts on the 5 inch color touch screen, and the wizard will walk you through the setup process. If you plan on using wifi (which I did), you need to make sure to have the necessary connection information available before hand, as the printer will need your router password and such to connect.
The printer arrives with the toner cartridge already installed, so once setup is complete, you’re ready to go. I have a Windows 10 computer, and it found the printer right away. I had already gone to the Canon website to download the drivers and firmware, but found out that wasn`t even necessary, as my computer would have auto done it for me when I first connected to the printer over the wifi network.
I will note that while the quick-start guide provided me almost everything I needed to know to set up the printer, there was one bit of information missing. -It lists a large plastic strip as one of the items included in the box, but never explains what the piece is for. I had to go to the Canon website and download the full manual to find out that it is a dust cover for when the paper tray is extended for legal-size paper. This could very easily be remedied, by simply listing out what the piece is for in the quick start guide.
Once you are up and running, the printer is fast and the print quality is great. I love that the printer will save the scan right to my desktop like a breeze. The ease at which you can switch from B&W to color is also great. Overall the touch screen user interface is very intuitive and super easy to use. -There is even an option for the printer to auto order you more toner when the printer is low on ink! How great is that?!
My only con is that the printer does require more space than the average home printer. I am lucky in that my home office space is quite large, but if you are limited on space, this may not be the best option for you.
Overall this is a great printer that offers consistent quality of printing/scanning/copying and it exceeded my expectations.

Great little desk-top printer for small office!

I was pleasantly surprised when I first opened the box of this printer! It was much larger than I expected, but I was able to find a nice spot in my home office for it.
The initial set up of this printer is pretty easy. The digital display menu is very helpful, even if you are not a tech person. I was able to set up the printer on my home server in a few minutes, and after that, on my cell phone!

The paper feeder tray worked smoothly as well as the scanner. There is not much required as far as the set-up of this printer/scanner. There was only one additional part to clip on. As with most copier/scanner/fax machines, you will need to purchase the phone cord yourself in order to fax. I was able to load the software onto my laptop in a few minutes with no glitches.
The color of my copies were really clear and of good quality. There is also an automatic adjustment feature if you need to use it. The off and on time lag is very short (meaning if you have to re-start the printer, it was a very short reboot time.) The paper feeder trays worked smoothly and quickly.
One of my favorite features on this printer/scanner is the digital display menu. You can easily look up any error codes and make changes to your home screen and overall settings for printing. It is also very easy to switch from black and white to color copies. Another one of my favorite features is the ability to print from my cell phone. I had to download a free Cannon Print Services app to be able to use this feature. I also liked the fact that I could set up printer options via the internet.
The product came with an instruction manual, but it only included instructions for the basic set up. I could not find any additional information on how to set up the email scan. I ended up googling the information, which resulted in me finding a few YouTube help videos on how to set up the scan to email feature...but those videos were not specific to this particular printer/scanner. I spent several days trying various remedies, but have still not been successful. I think that the instruction manual needs to be expanded to include more information. I also found it difficult to find a help desk number to call to have someone assist me.

I have used many copiers/printers over my career and in my personal life and find this piece of equipment to be a bit superior to other home printers I have purchased because of the ease of the initial set up and use. I would like to see more of a variety in color choices…other than just black or white. I think this would be a unique feature as the majority of copiers are only available in either black or white. Again, there needs to be more detail in the user manual and/or a help line to call.
I would recommend this product for any small office or home office.

Easy to use and quick!!

The cannon I received was essentially put together without almost any assembly. The box was huge. Packaged well. The one downside I have come across is that it was extremely heavy. Which is to be expected. Some of the images depict having a second person assist with some steps. Such as lifting part of the packaging and obviously setting it where you want it.
I was able to do all of this by myself. So it is possible. I was able to get it inside and set up in 30 min or less. And I got it hooked up wirelessly to my laptop. It has step by step instructions which are so easy to follow. It comes with a disc you can use instead of reading directions, I didn’t need that or use it.
I was able to print some sheets and copy some other items and it’s pretty quick and the color images are clear and crisp. I am extremely happy with the quality.
I wish it wasn’t quite so heavy and large but it really is efficient. I have the space for it so it has a happy home and I certainly do not plan on moving it any time soon.

Consistently well performing printer!!!

Pros: Initial setup is easy, good printing resolution, feeds easily for scanning, copies quickly, touchscreen is intuitive
Cons: the unit is heavy and awkward, the touchscreen seems to like a certain type of touch in order to respond
Overall impression: This is a consistently well performing printer and scanner that will help make me be more efficient in my home office.

GREAT COLOR PRINTING

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. I have now had the Canon MF741Cdw for about 7 days. Though the printer is heavy, unboxing was relatively easy due to the type of open bottom box it arrived in. I was able to get it out of the box and set onto the space where I am keeping it with relative ease by myself.
Set up was not difficult at all. The only complication is that I had to disable my firewall in order for the installer to be able to recognize my computer, but otherwise, the process was simple and I was able to enable my firewall again once the process was completed. It took me about 15 minutes to do the entire setup. I personally find it easier and more convenient to connect the printer to wifi on the actual printer itself using the touchscreen rather than from my computer. There are very easy prompts on the screen to set it up. Note: There is a message about automatic toner replacement and then they ask you to accept an agreement. The agreement you accept is NOT related to the toner at all, so go ahead and accept so you can get through the process
of connecting the wifi, otherwise it won`t finish the wifi setup.

I had to replace an old printer not too long ago and I really haven`t been satisfied with the quality of the laser jet type of printer that I purchased, so I was
very glad to have a chance to test the Canon MF741Cdw. I am an ESL teacher and I print massive amounts of color pictures to show to my non English speaking
students to help them understand the meaning and use of English words and phrases. It is important that these images are clear. My other printer bleeds color and the images just don`t always look that great. Thus far the Canon imageClass printer has superior color. I have not seen Any bleeding yet, though I will need to continue watching over time to see if this happens once the ink/toner begins to get lower. Thus far the colors are really nice and I like that the machine calibrates the color upon setup. I also really love the ease of the paper tray. There was nothing to set up other than removing the red tape and foam.

This machine does require more space than my other printer. I have a very small office space, so the size of this machine is my least favorite feature about this printer however, the trade off seems like it is going to be well worth it since the quality of the color printing is so much better. I have not had this printer long enough to know if the cost will be equal to or less than my other printer but based on my search it seems as though it will be comparable to my other printer.
I really like the touchscreen on this printer. I`m still learning my way around but it`s easy to navigate.The printer makes a bit of noise but, I have not ever had a printer that doesn`t make some noise. This printer is at least comparable to others I have had on the noise front but might even be a bit more quiet, especially because the print speed seems to be faster. This is a favorite feature. At times I need to print something quickly in order to use it and this printer satisfies my needs in this area. By the time I walk into the other room to grab my prints, very often, they are already finished and waiting for me.
Overall this is a Great printer that offers a solid quality of color that suits my business needs!

Great office addition
