Nighthawk AC2300 router

Previously had Verizon router which wasn’t strong enough for all our equipment. Additionally we have a tin roof which gave us a weak signal. We now have a good signal and are happy we switched to Nighthawk.

So many internet connection issues

The router overall is has everything to be the best, 5 starts, specially with the Circle Parent Control and NETGEAR Armor powered by Bitdefender. However, time to time, sometimes everyday, the router looses Internet connection or freezes. I tried everything, from updating firmware and many other troubleshoots. It is just unstable.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

5GHz Band Keeps dropping

I bought this device two months ago. They worked fine for a while, Then suddenly the WIFI kept dropping. The Netgear provided a new device new device through RMA for which shipping cost I had to bear. Then with the new device experienced similar problem within two days and on investigation found that the 5 GHz band WIFI drops intermittently. Netgear does not have proper solution for this and asking me to get a RMA and bear the cost for a issue which I am not responsible. I have been in hours and hours of tech support and wasted my time . Really Netgear made this very inconvenient in this time where we work form home and really on proper internet connection to do our job.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Netgear model R7000P

Could not register correctly, would not accept the serial number of unit, said it did not match the numbers on box which it did! So it registered as a rs400 which is wrong. The setup was terrible, would not accept modem. I finally got it to work, some of my wifi equipment could not find the signal and still doesn’t. Some of the problems was a password problem. As for my experience I would not recommend this unit...

Great Distance and Speed

Overall great router, has awesome download and upload speeds. Only issue I have is the the armor services sometimes block basic connections for the games I play. I’ve been kicked from games likely due to the router’s harsh settings, even after changing them. I still recommend for anyone who is PC or console gaming .

Crummy management software

Produce works fine. I get emails to update the software version but when I try it tells me that it is up to date. However when I check version number they are way different numerically.

Countless failed updates

I have used this router for awhile with acceptable results but it is in need of being updated and the app has not worked for this. It will say it is updating but after it finishes the process it still says it has the old firmware.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Netgear Nighthawk AC2300 was a replacement for an old Nighthawk router that had seen better days. Setup went flawlessly and it just works!
