This is my second Night Hawk. It is an excellent router, and they last a long time. The installation instructions are nearly non-existent. I had trouble during the install, possibly because I'd purchased the some time before. I called tech support, which is apparently 24/7. It took a long time to go through the trouble shooting routine, but in the end, the tech was able to get me set up.
What impressed me the most was the capability of the tech support agent. You usually an tell that the tech is just reading from instructions, and doesn't really understand the product. This tech was obviously knowledgeable about the product and technology in general.
Nighthawk R7000 went out after 3 years. R7000P is working as expected so far (1 week). Did have to increase the distance between router and a phone base (over R7000). Also, must have missed the instruction to install the antenna before any other setup. Otherwise, setup was straightforward. Overall, more than satisfied. Only get about 20Mbps out here in the sticks so don’t need a high end unit.
I needed to upgrade the router from a list of preferred routers on the Cox website. This was rated very high. Once you put on the antennas it works great. You can also check the status on your phone to turn on and off the various sources in the home. easy set-up.
I like how easy it was to set up the router; coupled with the nighthawk app. The device is good upgrade and I noticed more capacity out of my already decent internet speed. My devices no longer fight with each other to maintain internet connection. For those who want to bolster their internet security or be cognizant of specific devices “Mac” addresses and such, the app is very useful for this. I do recommend this router for sure!
