To start - I am extremely limited when it comes to tech-related stuff - we bought this router for a second home deep into the country - with terrible cell service) but I chose netgear over 2 other products Linksys which was recommended by a friend with deep tech-infrastructure credentials and Another brand recommended by my brother. I picked Netgear because it had a higher percentage of 5 star reviews than the other two brands and it was recommended by the guy who installed my fiber line. So all I had to do was follow directions - and everything fell into place - full bars throughout the 1st and 2nd floor of the house - unit is in basement.
I have just one minor complaint - had I known that the final step to connecting with the router had to be be completed via an app - I would have down loaded my app prior to headed upstate. As it happened - I was able to eventually download the app and complete the connection - I am now a very heppy camper
Our home is about 2500 square feet. This router covers the whole house and extends far into the yard. It is also a breeze to set up and the app is useful too.
Always had problems with range in my home. That's a big problem when your home is completely automated! The Nighthawk AC2300 did the trick!!! Wifi reaches all my devices from the garage and front door to my smart tv!! Well done Netgear!!
Spend the extra money and get this. It's worth it. We have had zero network issues since upgrading to this and there are so many features that makes your various devices faster and more efficient on your network.
My R7000P stopped working (May 1, 2019). Its 9 months old. It will not connect with Comcast Cable Modem. It will not operate stand-alone. When it did work it worked well, but, often required resetting Cable Modem to reconnect.
