Don't update out of warranty-Update Bricked router

I bought this about two years ago. Netgear came highly recommended. It was a little expensive but was packed with features that made the little extra expense reasonable. The app seem was nice for setup and periodic adjustments. However, I ran the update from the app a couple days ago and, Voila! I get my very own Netgear brick. That is the long story short. Basically I ran the update and the power light turned to a flashing amber for 3 days straight because disrupting the update would cause an issue like bricking the router. The blinking amber according to the manual is update in progress/factory reset button has been pushed. I figured nothing a little tech support call couldn't fix....I call the number and can't even connect to a human being without paying because the warranty has expired. Hmmm...guess you shouldn't update outside of the warranty period of 90 days. I'll get my update. A new router and it certainly will not be a Netgear. Terrible experience with this, I thought a company with such high recommendation would be better. I thought wrong.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Was Great in first 8 months BUT now......

I brought it 8 months ago, it was working fine and providing close to 100% of my subscribed speeds. However, after I upgraded to 1Gbps. The router's 5G WiFi only had 40-60 Mbps upload and ~100 Mbps dowload and some times both would be less than ~50Mbps and super unstable. The LAN connection was no different. Only reaching ~100Mbps if lucky. Tried on/off, resetting, downgrade of firmware. But nothing seems to work. Hopeful netgear support is able to help. Trying to reach them.

Not as good as they say

It was said that this router was suppose to improve ping and latency. It does nothing different in fact it’s been making my ping a whole lot worse. I’ve done everything I could to improve it and nothing is working and it’s not like I don’t understand these routers cause I do. It’s just a waste of money.

This cable modem constantly disconnected from the cable signal. I spent countless days and hours with technical support. After wasting hours of my time, I was told to return the box for another one. They refused to give me a refund. I also was disconnected from the phone line about four times. Words cannot describe how disgusted I am with this company.

Finally something works

My partner and I have been trying to find an extender for our home that covers the dead zones for years. We finally found this and I am glad we tried it out because everything in the home is finally running smoothly. Thanks NETGEAR!

Works well...when it works

The signal on this device is not as strong or reliable as previous models. The 2.4 channel kept dropping, and while showing available it would not connect unless the router was reset. This happened several times a day. I returned the router.
