Installing this product is easy if you only use the parts they give you, but I wanted a needle valve inline to the filter after the cold water supply line. That way if the filter should develop a leak down the line and I needed to shut off the water flow, I could use the needle valve instead of shutting off the supply line,(which would shut off water to the kitchen faucet as well). That way if a problem occurred with the filter I would not be forced to fix it on the spot, but could get around to it when able. Needle valves have connectors that are a different size than the lines used for the filter, then I also have different sized supply lines b/c this house was built in the 50s. All to say I had to spend a good long time at the hardware store getting adapters and lines to do what I needed. None of it expensive, just time consuming, but not Aquasana's fault, as no water filter comes with a needle valve, and most new houses have the size lines supplied with the system. I also had to drill the enamel cast iron sink as I like a sprayer alongside my faucet, and have a dishwasher which needs a vent in CA to meet code. So there were no available holes for the faucet. I purchased a diamond hole saw bit and watched a couple online videos and just went slow, and it came out perfect. So once I did all the extra stuff needed for my particular install, the Aquasana went in easy, easy, easy! And worked perfectly! No drips, no gurgles, no leaky faucet. You turn it on, the water comes out fine. Turn it off, and it instantly stops, no dripping. Some people complain the water flow is slow. I am guessing they have never used a filter that is rated for NSF 42 **AND** 53. NSF 42 just removes chlorine and a few other things that affect taste, so a filter only rated for NSF 42 has a faster flow b/c the water is traveling through a less-dense filter medium. Basically just carbon. But the NSF 53 rating means the Aquasana is also filtering out all kinds of other contaminants that don't affect taste, but HEALTH. And that means using denser materials that will slow flow some. No filter rated for NSF 42 AND 53 will have a fast flow rate unless it's a large unit (e.g. floor standing) with a lot larger supply line feeding it. But to compare the Aqusana 5300 to other NSF 42/53 filters, I have one built into the fridge that is the same rating and has the same size supply line, and the Aquasana is 20% faster at least. So to me, it runs fast for the kind of filter it is. Of course as the canisters become clogged with minerals and deposits over time, that will slow the flow until new canisters are put in place. While we have a fridge filter we wanted a kitchen sink filter for putting filtered water in a pot for cooking (and drinking). And we couldn't be happier with the Aquasana 5300. We were using a PUR faucet filter on the end of the faucet and those things cause back-pressure that wear your faucet gaskets down sooner than they would normally wear... plus it was bulky and in the way, and easy to destroy by accidentally running hot water through it. We could not be happier we switched to the Aquasana!
Pros: Compact, Completely Quiet, Easy Install, Great Faucet, Great price, Great taste, Nice Flow For High Nsf, Nsf Rated 42 53
We have not had our filter for very long so all I can say is the water tastes good. We have clean water in our area but taking the chlorine out makes it taste better. We don't know about cleaning the filter, durability, etc. yet.
I use the product for personal use. I liked the reviews I read and was overwhelmed by the choices that are out there. I think this system and what is has to offer comes in at a good price point, as a lot of systems out there are ourageously expensive. My water tastes so much better now. So far, I am very happy with this product. :)
I put slow pour as a con, but considering I don't have to lug cases of water from the store the slow pour is a minor inconvenience. Very happy with this product.
Pros: Clean taste, Easy to install, Long lasting filter
Slightly awkward installation, but an excellent result

I highly recommend this product, but a re-write of the instructions are overdue. We replaced our faucet-mounted filter with this unit. It performs exceptionally well and looks great. I picked this unit because of its reviews over other, more expensive units. Thanks to those previous reviews, I was prepared for the bad instructions. Knowing which way to mount the washer at the faucet under the sink did require a couple of tries to get it right. Rubber goes above the sink, plastic underneath. If you can't get the faucet to get tight to the sink, you've got the washer the wrong way up. Our installation is beveled edge down. Also, the positioning of the faucet will require some thought. The instructions aren't clear here either. The valve is sturdy and it's operation is awkward if you don't mount the faucet in a way that allows for a good grab and twist. We opted to have the valve face the operator, rather than be on the side, which the pictures seem to indicate, even though this puts it at risk to bumps from pots and pans in the sink. The under-cabinet mount of the filter unit may require some skill if you have a garbage disposal on the same side as your filter. You won't get a large drill in there to make straight holes and the tubing is not long enough to put it on the other side. Getting the screw driver may also be a challenge in that situation. I had to supplement the screws with some washers to keep the unit from sliding up the mounting slots and then through the holes.
Our Viking refrigerator water filter completely broke and they didn't provide any solution, so we had to install something new. This was low cost, easy maintenance water filtering system. I like it, but my kids like to drink really cold water, so so they don't use it too often. Overall, good product.
