So much better than the "Clean Water Machine!
on January 9, 2018

Before this, we had the Aquasana Clean Water Machine, which we used for the last 2 years to provide us with clean fresh tasting water. It worked fine and did a great job on the water.
So, we were expecting this one to do just as well cleaning the water - figuring it was using about the exact same filters. And we were right! It's doing a perfect job keeping our water tasting chlorine-free.
The thing we didn't realize about the Machine all this time though was just how much we were hating it! We thought we were loving it! But it wasn't until we got this new filter that we realized we actually hated it.
The best part of the new filter is that it is SILENT! Completely silent! Phew! I don't think we could have taken another day of that super loud machine! We didn't realize how much it was bothering us though - until - we heard the silence of this filter!
We were hoping that this filter would let water flow through a little faster than the machine. Truth is though is just about exactly the same speed. But in the end it seems a lot faster because you can do other things while your glasses and bottles are filling. You don't have to stand there and hold a button down the entire time like you do with the Machine. Just set the bottle under the faucet, turn it on and let it go. Do whatever you need to do and check back in about 20 seconds!
We host with Airbnb so we constantly have anywhere from five to ten people in our apartment - and they all drink water. So we go through a lot more drinking water than most people. We had to keep two large water bottles in the refrigerator filled at all times. And doing it with that Machine was really driving us nutty! The fact we can set both bottles and glasses under the faucet and just let it go for however long it takes - is such a time saver. And the fact that it doesn't make any noise, so we can use it even when our guests are here without worrying about disturbing them - is amazing.
We'll routinely fill 5-10 20-oz bottles a day to keep the household running. And on the days we did 10, one of us would have to sit in front of the Machine and hold the button down the entire time. That's maybe about 7-minutes just standing in front of that Machine filling water bottles!
The other day, I filled 10 bottles while I was working in the kitchen and by the time I was done, I told my wife I felt as if I had only filled 2 bottles. It was so much less work and effort than it was with their Machine.
My only two minor complaints are about the faucet. One, it feels really flimsy. I could see us some day hitting it with a pan that we're washing in the kitchen sink and breaking it right off. So we're going to try to be really careful with that.
The other thing is - we wish they had made it taller so we could put glasses or bottles on the counter to fill them rather than having to put them in the sink. As it is, you have to put whatever you're filling in the sink to fill it - which means if your sink is full of unwashed dishes or pans when you're ready to fill up a glass of water you're going to have to wash them and get them out of the way before you can get your water.
If the faucet just was a little taller you'd be able to slip a tall glass or medium-size bottle under it on the counter side instead of having to put everything in the sink.
Anyway, with those two problems aside it's absolutely perfect and we're very happy with it.
Pros: Easy to clean, Clean taste, Long lasting filter
Cons: Slow pour, Difficult to install

I put the system in 3 weeks ago, it worked for 5 days. I got up in the morning and was going to get a drink of water and found myself standing in water on my new wood floor. Do yourselves a favor ,at the tank and the fitting that goes to the faucet put brass fittings in place of the plastic ones. I'm a retired HVAC-R tec and female plastic fittings with 'o' rings or plastic compression fittings if they don't leak today they will tomorrow. What would would have happened if I were gone for a week. Not good. If people are using these fittings i would shut the water off at the angle stop before leaving for a short or long time. I do love the water and the set ups nice. Not unhappy with the system.
Pros: Easy to clean, Clean taste, Long lasting filter, Easy to install

SPECS

Bought it for the specifications of removing just about every contaminant. For example, lived in New Orleans and the Mississippi is the water supply, which is the 'toilet' for the central USA. Hence, has just about every fertilizer, pesticide, heavy metal, etc., is there and the city had the reputation of being the Bladder Cancer Center.
I didn't need to rate this specific unit, because I have the 2 stage units on my refrigerator and under the sink. I just wanted to upgrade to add the pre-filter. I have had the 2 stage ones for years with no issues. I also added a 5 Year Reverse Osmosis as an additional front end pre-filter.
I do not believe in buying and blanketing the earth with plastic bottles --collecting in the sump area in the Pacific ocean now, as well as killing whales, etc. And I wish the specs on the city water were better! Hence, I went for what appears to be the best filtering possible and to help the environment.
My only recommendation is that I wish Aquasana would now exceed the specs and explore the performance against newer bug sprays, fertilizers, even though not listed in their table. Add your tests to the spec sheet and refer to requirements as NA.
The Fed list can become old and outdated very quickly. Meeting the Fed list does offer a basis and also indicates removal of chemical analogs, but the best is to confirm that these chemical analogs + newer chemicals are removed to the 95+%.
These units yield turbidity of 1-2 -- better than the city water and the refrigerator filter (I actually removed the refrigerator filter and put in a blank and plumbed Aquasana in-line The refrigerator filters actually ADDED turbidity! I am not sure what chemicals they removed because they didn't offer a spec sheet!) I actually measured the turbidity.
These units remove virtually 98% of bad things and hopefully similar results for newer chemicals. And the water is exactly what it should be -- darn near tasteless. Tasteless meaning that the usual odor and taste from city and even BOTTLED water is completely removed. (In fact, I do not like the TASTE of bottled water -- tastes kind of like plastic bottle or has some other tastes!) The Aquasana filter system removed all of this and I get a crystal clear glass of water that is about as close to just good water as possible. So, I rely on the city to kill the bugs, and Aquasana to provide the rest!
I have been a user of these now for ~10 years. This is the best (in terms of what they filter) for the price per gallon.
Pros: Easy to clean, Clean taste, Long lasting filter, Durable, Easy to install

Great filter. Had to drill a half inch hole in the sink for the filter faucet to to fit. Takes some effort to tighten the filter faucet down so it won’t loosen up during usage.
Pros: Clean taste, Long lasting filter, Durable, Easy to install
Cons: Slow pour

No more bottled water!

We live in a rural area and the water quality isn't the best. As a result, we had been buying as many as five cases of water per week for our family. After researching water filtration systems, I chose Aquasana because of the high marks from reviewers. Installation was relatively easy and we've been very satisfied with the quality and taste of the drinking water. Since installing the system, we haven't purchased any bottled water.
Pros: Clean taste, Easy to install

I have been using this for about a month and I love it. I have well water and have been buying drinking water for years. Coffee tastes better, I keep a pitcher of filtered water in the fridge for drinking and it is very good. It's what water should be, refreshing with no taste.
Aquasana was recommended to us by a
friend and we would highly recommend it. Easy to install too.

Great filters-faucet not so great

I upgraded to these new larger filters from the smaller Aquasana 3-stage filters to get better flow, more volume, longer filtering capacity. Noticed immediately more volume to fill the kettle to make coffee and fill pots for soups, etc. Was worth the upgrade. Did not use the faucet that came with the the filter kit as it is too short/not enough reach. Instead installed a QMP Ceramic Disk Drinking Water Faucet- Brushed Nickel-QMP804-BN. This faucet sits a good bit higher and is deeper/has more reach to fill pots and the kettle more easily, is a perfect-no fuss match for the Aquasana filter system. It would be nice if Aquasana offered better quality faucets that have more height and depth.
Pros: Easy to clean, Clean taste, Long lasting filter, Durable, Easy to install
