Clean, smooth water
on September 18, 2021
Posted by: cellsheet
This water filter was one of my best investments with the water tasting nearly consistently amazing. This was a great purchase and has been in daily use over the past year since early last year. The water filters can be a little of a struggle to replace at times, but overall not bad. Highly convenient as well since installation was a breeze. Saved me tons and the environment as well from water bottle trips, purchases, and plastic.
Pros: No odor, Clean taste, Durable, Nice faucet, Easy to install
Cons: Slow pour

less than stellar experience

It took over 3 weeks for the unit to arrive- it's been installed for less than a week. My water has about 260 ppm unfiltered- my zerowater could take it down to 0ppm- Clarium is running at 215 and now there's sediment in my tea kettle. Unit is correctly installed.

Hello,

Thank you for your review. TDS, or Total Dissolved Solids, is the amount of dissolved minerals and metals present in water. TDS meters tell you the concentration of dissolved minerals and metals but are not an accurate measurement for contamination. Aquasana products reduce and remove harmful TDS like lead, but selectively retain or replace healthy dissolved solids like calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

Please see the link below for additional details:

https://www.aquasana.com/info/tds-meter-what-is-it-and-do-you-need-it-pd.html

Based on the product that you're inquiring about, it is tested and certified to NSF/ANSI Standards to reduce up to 99% of 77 contaminants. For an accurate measurement of the performance of our system, we recommend a water test kit.

Doesn’t filter fluoride

I’m not happy with it. My fault for not checking if it filters out fluoride. But I figured I’d double filter it through my Berkey for that. We hooked it up to the kitchen faucet and it trickles out! No pressure at all. It takes me for ever to fill up anything.
Cons: Slow pour

GREAT FILTER

This is my second tome buying the AQ-4000w. The first one lasted me for years and I loved it, so I bought the same model again. I like that it removes so many contaminates. I know my family is drinking good clean healthy water. I don't mind that the water pours out slowly. That tells me the filters are doing a thorough job cleaning the water. That's more important to me than how fast the water comes out. If you want fast pouring water get it straight from your tap.
Pros: Easy to clean, Clean taste, Long lasting filter, Durable, Easy to install
Cons: Slow pour

It is small enough to fit in your kitchen
on October 5, 2020

I was looking for a system so I can stop buying bottled water especially during the pandemic where bottled water was rationed. I found this system which should work better than those filtered pitchers. I already use Aquasana for shower filter so I read up and bought this back in Mar/Apr. It was easy to install. No issues. The water flow is low which is negative. I use a pitcher to keep cold water but it takes a while to fill it up.
As for replacing the filters, I have to take off 2 stars. This is poorly designed. You don't know how bad this is until it is time to replace the two filters. 1) the screw tops that hold the filters are super tight. One cannot open them easily at all. The video that they show is fake. No way that you can easily twist the cap off. 2) the hose is hard to remove especially the blue one. The white one was OK as it stated to push and pull while holding the gray plastic circle that surrounds it. For the blue, it did not work at all. I was afraid to break it. Very poor design. 3) why do you add a warning sticker that goes across the two filter caps? I had to remove the sticker which does not easily remove. 4) The instructions on replacing the filters don't match between the video and the instructions that came with the filters. The video shows just to twist off the caps which is impossible while the instructions state to remove the hoses. The instructions does show you can use a socket wrench which I did use and that helped but for the white hose (I think it was filter A). I could not use the wrench for the other filter since the hose was stuck. After 5 minutes of struggling with the cap, the cover of the unit came off. What a mess. Eventually I got the cap loose after scraping skin on my finger. Whoever designed this unit was not thinking. It is not user friendly at all. Don't be fooled by the video. Just keep trying, if you break the unit, make Aquasana give you a replacement at no cost. This is a design defect. They should be responsible for breaking the unit while trying to replace the filters. This warrant 2 stars off.
Pros: Nice faucet, Easy to install
Cons: Slow pour

Super easy install

Installation was super easy. The tubing is now clear instead of white, which I think looks nicer. While I haven't had the water tested, the dog would rather drink this water than the water from the tap, so that says something.
A suggestion when running the water initially: Run the water for 10 minutes as instructed, and then check for small rising bubbles in the water. If there are small rising bubbles, continue to run the water until you no longer see any. (You have to put the water in a clear container to observe the bubbles.) Alternatively, if you have a pet, you can see if they will drink it. Unless your pet eats/drinks anything, in which case, use the bubbles method. lol
Pros: No odor, Clean taste, Long lasting filter, Good Water Flow, Durable, Easy to install
