This filter system and replacement filters are supposedly rated for at least 500 gallons, and are to be replaced every 6 months. We use on average about 2 gallons of filtered water per day, so by rough calculation that would be about 400 gallons in 6 months. What frustrates me is that in the last 6 weeks of the 6 month cycle, the flow from the system becomes exceedingly slow, probably only 1/4 of the flow compared to a fresh filter. It gets very frustating waiting so long to get a glass of water.
My family uses this for drinking water, coffee, cooking. It is also used in my wine making & especially brewing home brewed beer. Water quality is the number one issue with brewing beer. I wouldn't use anything else. If I could find anything to be negative, it would be the flow rate. However I'd rather it be slow than not throughly clean. Cost per gallon efficency can't even be compared to bottled water, apples & oranges. I have a supply of water only limited by how long I have the faucet on for a brew day. Nothing to pre order, just turn it on.
Pros: Clean taste, Easy to install, Long lasting filter
It takes 2-3 days of usage before the charcoal taste is gone - tendency to make me sick initially. After that it tastes great, but then the flow rate starts to decrease after a month.
I really enjoy our water unit. I am very happy that i up graded to the new filters especially for ease of replacing. I do however think that the cost of your filters cost to much. I say this considering that I have had a number of water units over the years with filters costing less. It is still a very good unit and I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks
Pros: Clean taste, Durable, Easy to clean, Easy to install
