Water filter is fine. I've replaced cartridges just once so far. I want a system I don't have to think about but cleans the water. Most important to me, though, is getting help when things don't go well. I needed help with a leak and a noise and am still amazed at how easy it was to reach a person who could help. I'd give Aquasana 10 stars for that experience alone.

While we love the filter we are having to replace the cartridges much more often than 6 months - about 3-4 months. However, we do use a lot of water in our household. The delivery time for replacement filters is running about 14-17 days. So plan ahead.

While the appliance itself was installed by a plumber, I was able to change the filters myself. It took a few contortions to get under the sink, and initially the replacements leaked, but I finally got them in. Two things bother me: if the alarm sounds and you have to turn it off, you must remember HOW to do it. I managed to pull the entire appliance off the wall in the process. Also, you must run water through the filters before drinking, and I find I have to let it run for at least 20 minutes before the water tastes good. Seems like a lot of wasted water (unless you let it run into a bucket and take it outside to water your plants!)

I have been using Aquasana under counter and shower filters for years. First, I never get the smell or taste of chlorine from my water. Secondly, I researched the reviews of filtration systems and Aquasana scored very highly.
I do recommend Aquasana to my friends, particularly to those using Brita, which I consider useless.

The filter works fine and water tastes fine too.
One problem was the first filter change. The unit was put together at the factory, as the filters were originally installed prior to installation of this filter unit. The "O" rings for the filter housing were damaged upon opening the unit to install new filters the o rings were not usuable again. They were crushed and pinched out of place. I am surprised that it did not leak during the original filters use. Had to replace the o rings to be able to reinstall the new filters without leaks.

I live at Lake Tahoe and we have the best tasting water in the country, but EPA still requires that chlorine be added. I have been using my Aquasana water filter to remove the chemicals for over 20 years and it is fantastic. It just makes my water better to know I am filtering out the additives. My favorite drink is plain water - cold or hot. Thank you Aquasana!
