We use this in a high rise apartment where other filtration systems are not possible. The large reservoir and quick filtering / dispensing makes it practical. Just don't overfill it... makes quite a mess... but that was my fault. I purchased a stainless pitcher that we fill at the sink and use a large funnel to make sure the water doesn't spill all over. We quickly got into the routine and use it exclusively for drinking and cooking water. Even our french press coffee!

I am required to have sterile water and this is the closest product I have seen at the price. I add tap water from the hot water to the reservoir before it gets too hot. I'm sure my hot water set at 180 degrees would get rid go some of the micro organisms the filter misses.
I believe aquasana is the best product on the market.

My only complaint is how noisy it is. I have the whole house filter. I bought these for our kids who are renting. It has encouraged our grandkids to drink water. I love it!

I've used a faucet connected Aqusana before as well as a shower filter from Aquasana, so I already knew that I'd be getting a quality product. What drew me to this one was that I am currently renting an apartment with a particular faucet installed that isn't compatible with a faucet connected filter system and I didn't want to have to try to mess with installing one that is. And typical pitcher type filters just don't cut it for me. This unit is attractive, was super easy to install and so far, works perfectly! One thing that has helped is that I installed it close enough to the faucet that I can pull out the faucet head (it's the hose type) and fill the dispenser directly without having to remove it from the base. So if you are able to do the same, I highly recommend doing so! Makes it that much more convenient and much less possibility of spillage. As for water quality - tastes fantastic - WAY better than a standard pitcher type filter and we all know how useless those are at filtering out impurities, something which this filter does well. It IS a little noisy, but only when you're dispensing water from it. Just keep in mind that in order to push water through a decent filter with enough pressure, you need a powerful enough motor. A faucet connected type filter can make use of the water pressure as it comes out of your pipes. And without a motor, this one would be no better than a useless pitcher type filter. So for me, it's an easy trade off - a little noise for great water.
