The first toaster we purchased shorted out in the first week. We returned to the store and exchanged for another identical model. The second toaster only would work on the right two slots. The left slots you could not even push down. We returned that one and got our money back. We just ordered another brand. I was so excited to have a 4 slice toaster but disappointed in the Cuisinart.

Purchased this 4-slice toaster because we are a family of 6 people. Even without heavy usage, this toaster didn't function very well for very long. Although we've owned it a few, I would have expected better construction. The most significant issue is the fact that items don't eject out of one side of the toaster. Our clue that it is "done" is that smoke and smell that are emitted from the toaster. I consider this a safety hazard, not simply an inconvenience.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
