For my son, the cook!

My single, 27 year old son asked for a wok with a lid for Christmas. After looking through a big selection under category wok or str fry I found this wok. It arrived promptly and is beautiful. No, it has not been used by my son but I know he will be very pleased. Cooking.com is my "go-to" place to shop for all kitchen products.

replacing & downsizing

Excellent! Perfect size for one-two people. I've been a long time user of Calphalon so I expected high quality. It was time to replace pieces that are over 20 years old & get a new wok more suited for my lifestyle.

Stir Fry Pan

This pan is the best I've ever used. Thirty years ago my husband purchased a teflon Rival electric Wok. I used that one up. I loved it. The heating element was so even and nothing ever stuck. I replaced that with a Rival Stainless Steel 14" electric Wok. I had trouble from the first time I used it with food sticking and burning. The heating element was not consistent. I finally decided I would buy a Calphalon pan (stove top) to match my Tri-Ply Stainless Steel set. It's the best addition to my kitchen. Thank you for a great product.

I have used this wok for less than a month, so I am not sure about the durability. But so far, I love it! It heats quickly and evenly, you will just need no more than medium heat for cooking. The cleaning is easy, wish is a plus. Especially with the bargain price I got at Calphalon outlet, I am pretty satisfied with it!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Ready & Reliable

I’ve had this wok for nearly one year. During this time, I’ve had occasion to use it for numerous tasks. I love the heat distribution and reliable easy-to-clean stainless steel. I’d love to enlarge my Calphalon inventory soon!

Some issues

It's okay, but there are some problems. As others have mentioned, food tends to stick when browning / searing.
My bigger complaint is that water has gotten between the glass and rim of the lid and when heated is forced out and drips into food, which is pretty gross.

I really want to love this pan, as I am a fan of Calphalon and I love to stir fry. Everytime I try to use this pan to stir fry, the inside bottom turns brown, gets burn marks. I have tried numerous types of high heat oils, all the same results. I even keep the vegetables moving around the pan so they don't burn, still it turns brown and starts to smell like it's burning. I have never had a pan do this before.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not Long Lasting

This was a great pan for the first few times I used it. I loved it and use it for pretty much every thing I need to cook. I've followed all the guidelines and I always handwash as I don't have a dishwasher. Unfortunately the pan has now started to get burn marks on the bottom and it now has a copper looking ring around the inside of the pan. It no longer really gets clean, as it always has this residue and it's unfortunate that a calphalon product would reduce to this so quickly. I have had the pan for a little over a month. It's also strange that the pan got these marks when I closely watched the food and it never burnt.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
