Nice Pans with Some Caveats

I bought this set for my wife as a Christmas present in 2019. I have become tired of replacing nonstick cookware due to the nonstick not being durable and after doing research, I believed these were an answer to that.
Firstly, overall we like the pans. One key element when buying new cookware is that the bottoms need to be heavy and perfectly flat. We cook on a halogen/glass cooktop. If the pan does not sit completely flat on the glass it impacts how it heats. These pans fit that bill, being heavy gauge and flat.
The caveats are unfortunate, though.
The non-stick is said to be metal utensil safe, but our very limited use of metal has damaged it. We never use sharp utensils or even things like thin metal spatulas which are not sharp but have more of an edge. Typically we'd use a large metal spoon, which is pretty well-rounded. Worse is they have not stood up well to them nesting together and clearly the outside of a pan is not sharp and I can't see that it's abrasive, nor do the pans rub while sitting in the cupboard. However, the surface has been damaged by them just being placed together. Based on our extremely light use of metal and the outcome, I think the claim for metal safe should be removed, unless we just have a bad run of pans (seems unlikely).
The other issue is with the design of the lids. I appreciate that design went into them. It's nice to see what is in the pan (glass lid, metal rim). It seems like a good idea to reinforce the rim of the lid with metal to cut down on the chance of chipping. However, there is a significant problem with the design. Water can get between the glass and the metal. I'm sure there is a gap engineered in because glass and metal don't expand and contract in the same when heating and cooling. I mean, it makes sense it has to be there. The problem is liquids in that gap. One day, when preheating a pan, I put the lid on it to speed up the process. When I looked a few minutes later, water was dripping into the pan from the lid. As it heated, the water was being squeezed out of that gap. Dirty water most likely... dishwashing water. If I had not been preheating the pan, I'd never have seen it dripping into the food.
The issue with the lid is what bothers me the most. Now that I know, I have to heat dry the lids, putting them into the oven to push the water out. It's extra work and disappointing, but really what choice is there? I can't let unclean water drip into food and I can't not wash the lids. It is what it is, as they say.
Calphalon, please take these things into account when doing design and marketing.

Bad lids, good pans

The pans are great. However, like other reviewers mentioned, liquid collects in the rim of the pans, molds, and oozes out into your pan when cooking. Just a bad design on the lids.

Bought for my Husband for Father's Day gift. He absolutely loves the whole entire set. We have had Calphalon in our household for over 30 years. Started with a few pieces. Husband loves cooking and loves this set. Beautiful set, easy to clean and store. Bought 10 piece set and added several other pieces including Dutch oven, and wok. Excellent quality, design, durability. Amazing gift for Amazing Husband.

Happy with this cookware!

I bought the 10-piece signature set in November 2017. I wash the pots/pans with a non-scratch sponge by hand and rinse and dry thoroughly with a dish towel. I also wash the lids with the sponge, rinse well, and shake off excess water. When drying them, I hold the handle of each lid in one hand and tamp it with the underside down against the towel in my other hand several times to get any water out, dry well, and lay the lids out separate from the pots/pans for a while with the underside of the lids facing up to continue drying. I come back in an hour or so and put them all away. I only use wood and silicone utensils not metal ones even though it says that we can. You have to be sure not to exceed the oven temperature limits, and I haven't put mine under the broiler either. Also, I don't use an oil spray with an aerosol propellant, and I wait until the pot/pan preheats a bit before I use any oil or butter if needed. Except for their weight, I've had no issues with them, and they still look good. A little extra TLC for cookware that is expensive is necessary if you want them to last a long time. The care and use instructions come in handy. I consider these an investment, so it's not a problem for me. I understand that it might be an inconvenience for some to not clean them in the dishwasher or have to take a little extra time to care for them.

Please note: I received this product for free to review, but all opinions are my own.
The first thing I noticed about my new Calphalon set was the lids, they fit really well. My previous set of pots and pans was a different brand where the lids were difficult to clean and didn’t fit tightly. The Calphalon lids are perfect and extremely easy to clean.
The pans have been extremely durable and you can even use metal utensils on it without scratching the surface. These have been great to cook with and really hold up to the promise of being non-stick. They heat really evenly and have been fantastic.
While I love to cook, I am extremely lazy about cleaning up so the fact that these are dishwasher safe is amazing. I ran them through the dishwasher and was pleasantly surprised by how clean they got. But even hand washing them isn’t difficult, the food wipes off extremely easy.
I absolutely love this set, it really has everything I need!

So Much More Than Just Non-Stick

Eleven years ago I was registering for my wedding and my mom said the most important item on my registry is a good set of pots and pans. After some research I decided on a stainless steel Calphalon and still to this day I am using those pots and pans.
Well with non-stick pans being as popular as they are now, I figured it was time to upgrade my pots and pans and of course Calphalon was the brand I wanted. Not that my old set is going to waste, my mom already asked for them!
Since I wanted a complete set the 10-pc. Cookware Set was the set I immediately looked at. I love that it comes with basically one of every pot that I need. It is a complete set to start or complete any kitchen.
Each of the four pots comes with a lid and then you get two pans. Every piece is very sleek and modern inside and out. The handles are stainless steel and the inside is coated to be non-stick. What I love about the non-stick inside is I don't have to spend hours scrubbing my pots and pans afterwords! The non-stick coating really does keep food from sticking! It is amazing! Eggs, vegetables and chicken so far has kept from sticking. I love too that any utensil can be used on coating as well, not just plastic which is what I have had to use on other non-stick coating pans I have used. You can use metal spoons and spatulas without worrying about scratches! Calphalon definitely knows how to do it right!
The pieces are a little heavy but I feel that shows off how durable and long-lasting they are. You can even put them in the dishwasher but I found that they clean so easily and quickly that I just rinse them down in the sink. I highly recommend splurging on this set even though it seems pricey as it will last thanks to the Calphalon quality.
While I received this product for free, the opinions and thoughts included in this review are my own.

A set that'll finally last!

I received a set to review, though opinions are my own.
Over the years, I've gone through numerous sets of pots and pans and it always made me so mad when a set would get ruined in just a few months. When I first opened this set, I could tell the difference in quality compared to my previous sets. First of all, they're heavy and quite durable. They're dishwasher safe too, but what I love the most is that I don't have to scream about my family using metal utensils in them because we can use metal in these posts and pans without scratching the surface! That to me, is key because that's inevitably what always ruined other ones.
This Calphalon set has brushed stainless steel long handles that stay cool while I'm cooking on the stovetop. The 8-qt. Stock Pot is perfect for soups and chili, because it's tall and slim and things don't boil over as easily.
Overall, I am really happy with this cookware set!
