A comprehensive printer from a trusted brand

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] FIRST IMPRESSION: This printer is not for a small space. It is a full size unit with all of the core functions of a high-grade printer. It has a professional unit appearance and appears to be able to accommodate large jobs.START UP: It was a very easy process to get the printer up and running. I was quickly able to connect it to my WiFi and then my laptops.GENERAL FEEDBACK: The printer produces high quality output,provides quick and easy set up, and smooth paper feeding (we have had no jams as of this report). The paper tray, once loaded, does not sit flush to the unit making the robust footprint even larger.PROBLEMS: My only major complaint with the printer is it`s size and weight. It is not in any way meant for a small space and takes up quite a large footprint.

HP App game-changer!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion.The setup of the printer was surprisingly easy. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. It took me a total of 12 minutes to open and remove all packing from the product and get it up and running. I connected it to my Wi-Fi quickly through the provided USB link. I work from home and tend to move my laptop to different rooms, even outside sometimes, so it is very convenient to be able to print from different areas in and around the house. I had purchased a new printer a few months ago and the setup was much more tedious, and the Wi-Fi connection took numerous tries. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly I was able to connect with this printer. What I loved best about the printer: With this printer, I was able to download the HP Smart App, which allows me to take photos of items and then print them from my phone. This is much more efficient than the process I was using: taking a photo with my phone, emailing myself the photo from my phone or uploading to Dropbox, then printing the photo from my computer. My daughter has special needs and communicates solely using a picture system. As you can imagine, I am constantly snapping new pictures to add to her Communication Board. This has significantly decreased the amount of time I need to spend setting up her new pictures. The print quality is good and like other comparable printers that I`ve used. And I can scan and print from all areas of my home using my phone. I really appreciate the capability to do all this remotely. For me, it`s a game-changer!What I disliked about the printer: The main negative to this printer is the size it is big and quite heavy. I have a very small home-office area and would not typically purchase such a big printer due to space constraints. My overall impression: This printer is similar to one I recently purchased but the HP Smart App really takes it to another level. Though the size is a drawback in a small space, the more efficient functionality more than makes up for it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Item: HP Color Laser MFP 179fnwI have never owned a laser printer because of their price and size. When I have needed something printed by a laser printer, I have used an office supply store. My office is very small so I was excited to see that HP had created a color laser printer that was affordable and would fit perfectly on top of my desk.Shipping: The printer was sent securely to my home with very little waste. So many times when you receive a package, it is over sized for the item so more packing materials have to be used. I was impressed that every packing piece sent by HP was recyclable, even the tape.Set Up: The instructions sent with the printer were minimal, but there was a step by step picture guide on how to set up the printer and how to download the HP Smart App on my phone. I felt that both were a very easy process.Features: The front control panel of the printer consists of simple press buttons that are easily identifiable for their function. A diagram of each button and the control panel light patterns was also sent with the printer. Interestingly there is an ID copy button. I am not sure how often I would use this function, but it will print the front and back of an ID on one page so it will definitely save on paper. There is also a scale button to enlarge or reduce the size of the print and a contrast button to adjust the lightness or darkness the print.Product Compared to Other Products: I have only used laser printers at an office supply store and feel like the quality of the print is very similar to the larger laser printers I have used in the store. The printer I use at home is much slower than the HP Color Laser MFP so I look forward to using the laser for faster printing.Quality Expectations: Based on the printer`s size, I was not sure if it would perform as well as the laser printers I have used at the store. Much to my surprise, the quality of the print is very good. Recommendations for Improvements: 1) Once you put the paper in tray, it will not close completely into the printer. This adds another 3 or 4 inches to the width of the printer. I did go to the HP chat page and there was mention of a clip that needed to be adjusted, which I tried with no success. 2) The paper size clip is hard to adjust at first. I recommend a "tip page" to address these type of issues. 3) The print was vibrant when printed from my phone or computer, but when I copied or scanned a page on the printer, it was more dull.Overall Impressions: I think the printer is a great addition for a small home or business office. I am not the most technical person so I was a little nervous about connecting the printer to my computer and phone. I was so happy that the process was really easy. The printer`s buttons and functions are straightforward so there is no need to study a manual. The print quality is very good!

Quiet, powerful-Impressive!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The printer was securely packed and everything was included in the box I needed. It came with a USB cord to directly plug the computer into my computer but I opted for wireless WiFi option.The set up was a breeze, did it myself without a problem! Easy instructions to follow and I had it totally connected and printing within 20 minutes! I was able to download and install the program quickly and printed a quality test page. This was very satisfying to be able to set up and install this printer without any help or difficulties-easy and quick. The HP website has tons of instructions and help topics and has a live "chat" option. I did not have any problems but at least the information is all there without having to search for it if needed.I like the all in one ability to scan, copy and fax with such a compact design. This printer is 30% smaller than my previous one and is so quiet. I actually don`t feel so overwhelmed with this in my office! The quality of the color copies is amazing. The color pops right off the page. I did a report with colored graphs and was so impressed with the professional job I created. Turned out a large document rapidly with great results. Very pleased that an all-in-one printer produced such a superior document so easily. The paper tray is smaller than what I am used to but it`s definitely not a big issue.Overall I am quite impressed with this printer. The compact size is a plus for me since space is an issue but all the features worked easily for me. Having a built in scanner makes it so quick to "feed" in and the unit looks quite dapper in my office. Being able to print documents from anywhere including my phone is a joy, the WiFi feature is fabulous. But the best hing is that is is so user friendly. I was able to set the entire unit up by myself correctly without outside help or frantic calls to family for help! The unit was up and running smoothly, and the results are great. The crisp quality of the written pages is great but the color graphics are truly impressive. Great product and easy to use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The shipping was quick, it came a day earlier than scheduled. The set up directions were great for connecting to my wireless network. You need to send directions for how to “select country” No where were there directions saying to use the arrow key to switch the USA “No” to “Yes”. You need more than just pictures about how to take it out of the box. There was nothing about how to set up the printer once it was connected to a wireless network.
