I own a model 650e, but it is in my other home. I thought the model 605 would be very similar in overall performance, but the high speed on the 605 is entirely too noisy. Also, the stop smoke filter is very poor - the older carbon filter is far superior to the more expensive “new” filter. If the filters were as good as the older ones and there wasn’t such a dramatic change in speed and noise from speed setting 2 and 3 I would have kept it. Also my 650e gave me a visual on effectiveness of filter performance and the 605 requires an expensive air performance accessory, which is far inferior to the built in Dyson HO 04 monitor. Was really disappointed...newer is not always better. Otherwise the unit was a very solid build.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

When I read previous reviews I couldn’t believe that the filters had plastic and very unpleasant smell because the original filters that came with my BlueAir purifier had never smelled. Well, it’s been a couple of weeks after we replaced the filters and the smell did not go away. I wrote to BlueAir using their online form but never got an answer. BlueAir needs to fix it and explain why the new filters have this awful smell.

Please note that many new products release a smell upon opening and initial use, including filter media. The newness smell should typically move through and out of the filter within 48 hours of use, but if you have run the air purifier for 48 hours and are still experiencing this issue, we will be happy to send you a replacement filter at no cost. My wife suffers from (seasonal) allergies and we bought one of their purifiers a long time ago (probably like ten years ago!), and have it running pretty much 24x7, with only the occasional downtime to change the filters. It is in our bedroom and, in the lowest speed, is so quiet it doesn't bother us at all (except for a blue LED light, but, then, we turn it away from us!).
