I bought this to replace an old Google Nest thermostat that failed. The HVAC tech who came out swore off the Nest thermostats and advised I go with a Honeywell.
Don’t get me wrong, this is a nice thermostat. It links to my phone like the nest, and allows you to obtain temps from multiple rooms via sensors. It also has a heat/cool mode that will either run AC or heat during those weird Spring or Fall days where your system doesn’t know what to run.
The one thing it doesn’t seem to do (as I was hoping) is automatically switch between emergency/auxiliary heat and standard heating based on the outside temp. It does display outside temperatures. However I have a dual fuel system that utilizes an electric heat pump for temps above 32 degrees and LP for temps below. My system is older so it does not automatically switch between the two. My old Nest thermostat would automatically adjust the heating mode based on outside temp. This was very useful since I didn’t have to go to the thermostat and manually switch it over every time the temp dipped. The new Honeywell apparently does not do this. Quite disappointed.
So, yes it’s a good thermostat. But for what I paid I was hoping it’d be a bit smarter in its technology.
I am a caregiver for a mentally challenged adult cannot control his temperature in his house this was the sender it’s great or even if your away for 6 months
I installed a T9 thermostat to replace one that the previous owner of my newly purchased home had installed. They had already registered their thermostat so I was unable to connect to it. I bought the same model so I would only have to replace the faceplate. Once I installed the thermostat and installed the Resideo app, I set a schedule and waited a few days to ensure the schedule was working for my routine. After a couple of days I thought I would try out the geofencing feature. That was a mistake. I soon discovered that the Resideo app does not allow the user to change back from geofencing once it is enabled. I wanted to return to the schedule-run method and now I cannot. I am stuck with geofencing unless I replace the thermostat again. I am living with it for now, but if I do decide to change I will NOT buy a Honeywell thermostat. I gave the thermostat 2 stars only because it was not hard to set up.
It was time for a new thermostat and so I wanted to try Honeywell. Used Google Nest previously and then Google decided to make customers buy newer versions of Nest by making the Smart function obsolete. Wasn't giving Google my money anymore after that. Honeywell seemed a perfect fit. They been in the HVAC market way longer than any of the "techie" thermostats and thought they will certainly last longer than Google. The T9 is simple and elegant looking and will fit pretty much any room decor. The install was easy and the setting was quick and straightforward. Packs same features as most smart thermostats and I find it to be much more accurate vs my gen2 Nest. House seems warmer is what we all noticed after the first week.
Does everything it's supposed to do. Works well with the app. The only complaint I have is the unit is in the hall just outside our bedroom and, BOY is it bright. I turned it down as far as it will go but it's still too bright. This thing is brighter than a night light and lights up the hallway keeping us awake. We have to put a postem over it at night. It should really have a light sensor so it could dim way down at night.
