Purchase the T9 w/1 remote sensor. Fairly easy to install on my 2010 Carrier HVAC which has the "C" wire. The instructions are simple enough but I do recommend reading it completely. Used my iphone with their APP which seems to work well and has not crashed or locked up. The remote sensor (2 AAA battery included) does exhibit long Hysteresis which I feel is good to prevent temperature flapping. It also has IR occupancy sensing that can be turned off. Been in use for about 10 days now, and so far its been reliable and works consistently. For those IT technicals, your WIFI AP must support peer to peer discovery otherwise the Smart phone app will not be able to discover it.

Can’t fine tune important HVAC settings

I installed this 4 days ago. Installation was easy as I had an unused C wire on my existing old, round, dumb Honeywell thermostat. I also had no problems connecting to the internet or using the app.
I have two issues with the unit. First of all, the display temperature will round to the set temperature when they are within +- 1.5 apart meaning that it always appears that the room temperature is equal to the set temperature when the unit is not off. This is very misleading since it does not represent the actual room temperature the unit is using to turn on/off.
The second gripe I have with the unit is that the user cannot control the temperature differential. I am not sure if this thermostat uses 1 or 1.5. Regardless, my AC was running less than 10 minutes most of the time and coming on in 10 minutes. There were times that the unit came on for less than 1 minute (not even sure why this was). Short cycling is not good for HVAC equipment.
Between the inaccurate room temperature display and the short cycling, I have uninstalled this unit and installed a smart thermostat from a different manufacturer. I was able to set the differential manually. Now my AC will run for 13-15 minutes and go off for about 20 minutes. In addition, the replacement unit has a compressor minimum run time default of 5 minutes which eliminates short cycling. It also has a feature to let the fan run a little longer after the end of the cycle to dissipate any air left in the duct.
It’s a no brainer that the T9 is not worth the money.

Not compatible with c-wire coming from heating

The device and some features are ok compared to Ecobee or Google Next, but it is not compatible with all systems, and crazy enough, if you have an AC and Heating system, it only seeks the C-wire coming out of your AC. I have all my C-wires coming out of my heating system. It goes blank every time I connect my AC to it - Unfortunately, that is not written anywhere clearly, and I had to learn from the experience after investing a ton of money on what should be a simple swap job from my old, not smart Honeywell device - save yourself some time and money and get something else.

Only thing better than the Honeywell T9 is the T10

Installation a tad more difficult when compared to nest which uses a simpler easier to use wire insertion with more room. The Honeywell took me longer to install because the spacing and room to insert the wires is more limited. These type of insertion like my previous honeywell tend to make removal and reinstalling very difficult as I ended up breaking the release mechanism on terminals that wouldn't release the wire properly. The nest is a better system for releasing the wire like a robust large speaker wire push release mechanism. That all being said, if you're intent to leave in your last residence and not bring it to a new residence it's a moot point.
Beyond that, this thing slays the Nest imho in everyway. I had the cheaper Nest. The white frost display is difficult to read because of how fuzzy it is and it lacks a touchscreen. The Honeywell T9's color touchscreen is vibrant and always on whereas the Nest has to be motion activated. I like the amount of info which includes the current temp, set temp, and weather.
The remote sensors for the Honeywell detects your presence in a zone unlike the nest I used to have and it takes regular triple A batteries and not lithium disc batteries. I don't even know how you even get into the remote sensor to replace it, but it not as simple as replacing the Honeywell. The honeywell provides a 3M mini command strip for the base for easy mounting and removal (a few extras would be nice for that purpose, 1 isn't really enough and I'm not sure extras are available. You could get a very small standard command strip and cut it to the smaller size it needs to be though).
In practice I love the geofencing option and it works perfectly. I recommend setting the fence a mile or more away so when you're coming home it will trigger so your house is cooling or heating prior to your arrival on long excursions further away. I don't want the geofence to trip if I'm on a quick trip to the grocery store across the street, but on longer excursions its brilliant.
Overall between Active Room mode and Geofencing I don't need scheduling really as I'm at home most of the time and it just follows me and cools or hears wherever me or my guests are and far more accurately controls Temps based on the sensor data.
My dedicated audio room runs very hot because I have 2 tube amps that put out like 550 watts of heat so when I'm in there the sensor knows it and cranks the upstairs zone on more often to remove the heat from that room so much better than where the primary upstairs thermostat is located which is why I bought them. To a lesser degree downstairs my master bedroom stay like 5 degrees hotter or cooler because it's an addition and exposed to elements on 4 sides making it harder to cool or heat. With the sensor in that room, I just walk in and within minutes it exactly the temp I need.

T9 Thermostat w/sensors

I purchased two new HVAC units and requested the new upgraded T9 wifi thermostats controlled on an app.
When im away I will be able to control the entire house with the App.
Right out of the box you can see the quality. Installing them was a breeze. Programming wasn't so quick. There is an installer and homeowner app. Pick the right one. Next, once you have your account set up, programming each sensor and how to use the App wasn't as straightforward even for the installer without the guidance of customer service. Great help but it should've been simplier.
Once the Thermostat is setup each sensor links to the Thermostat. Would it be nice to see each rooms temp on the front screen of the app or Thermostat vs going to "priority" which is a section of the app to see each rooms temp? I'd say so.
Its easy to schedule the thermostat and temps of each room. If you have a split system like i do, if a guest is staying in one room or part of the house you can make that room a priority instead of the hallway for example where the Thermostat is located. Without getting out of bed or being home you can monitor and ensure your guests are comfortable. Cost? Well i have a sensor in each bedroom/room which seemed very affodable buying in packs of 2.
Overall i gave it 4 stars for lack of better instructions and use on the app. But overall you will be happy with it.

After doing a lot of research, I decided on the T9. The remote sensors and ability to set temperature by the rooms that are occupied were the deciding factors.
We are using those features along with the geofencing. All 3 features work very well and allow for customization that others don’t offer.
So far, 2 months in, I am very happy with the thermostat.
My only critic is only an issue if the thermostat is near your bedroom. When the heat/cool turns on the thermostat makes a click noise (quietly) and the background light goes on. If you are a light sleeper, it can be an issue. I wish you could turn off the background light at night.

Don’t purchase this for older systems if you have

This thermostat does not work with 5G unless you split the bands. Honeywell is not familiar how to do this Tmobile is the thermostat also does not have a provision for managing the outside temperature that a heat pump turns on at I am now having to do this manually, I am unimpressed by Honeywell’s in ability to bring this thermostat up to Modern standards and modern Internet capabilities.

Works well, but no feature instructions.

Overall this was a very good solution to our need to provide temperature sensing in locations away from where the builder put the thermostat, which is in an interior hallway. Outer rooms could be as much as 4 degrees hotter or colder. It doesn't seem to allow you to select a remote sensor exclusively, which must be averaged with the main sensor. Installation instructions were very good but there are no instructions on how to use the functions or even what functions are included. Didn't know there was a scroll down menu to set display brightness, etc. etc. without a lot of trial and error. It's a good product, Honeywell, why not let us know all that it can do?
