Change the temp of my home without my consent

We are in the middle of summer. I got no notification whatsoever. My son was sleeping upstairs with a blanket and I go up there to hear him crying and sweating because it’s 86°. Had I waited any longer? It could’ve been a very dangerous situation, for my baby. The temperature changed itself. I was told this is for “energy conservation” This is criminal.
I liked how easy it was to install. I like the option of programing a schedule or using geofence. I don't like how the schedule is not always followed. For some reason the thermostat will only cut on for 10 bursts when I know the target temperature couldn't have been obtained in that short time frame. I don't like waiting 2 days before finding out the runtime of the furnace. My previous thermostat showed runtime the day of. I really thought about taking this back to get another thermostat.
This will be our third Honeywell smart thermostat that we have had. The original that we had years ago was the Lyric Round and it stopped working, so we purchased a Smart Color, which is a great thermostat as well and very easy to use. Nothing was wrong with that, but decided to upgrade to the T9 with remote sensor, so we could put one on our second story. It has been a great benefit to having the sensor to help balance the temperature in the house in the geofencing is a great feature as well.
This thermostat was easy to set up. Having a second sensor for the master bedroom is a great feature. And I'm learning more as I go, setting up schedules that balance the room temps the way I want them to. Good product.
