It's okay, but needs improvement. Currently you can't adjust the working screen brightness. This is the screen brightness when using the keypad, when adjusting the temperature for example. It's always the same level of brightness, so at night when it's dark and you want to adjust the temperature, the display light is blinding. The resting mode brightness can be adjusted automatically based upon the time. This feature needs to added to the working screen brightness level. The second improvement should be to change which weather service is displayed. Currently, it is AccuWeather which is incredibly bad, and always wrong. We should be able to pick the weather service we like such as the Weather App on my iPhone.
The T9 thermostat works very well. The remote sensor surprisingly works very well in conjunction with the main thermostat in my tri-level home. I have achieved the best temperature uniformity with this device.

had a ground wire so this unit was very easy to install and configure. We don't use Alexa so I can comment on that. It works with Apple HomeKit so I can use the motion sensors in the remote units to trigger actions such as lights at night. I set up the fan to circulate an it has made a tremendous difference. We also have a Sun Room that gets a lot of sun in the afternoons and if someone occupies it, it balances the temperature very well. We prioritize our bedroom at night so we can have a comfortable temperature for sleeping. I should have installed this unit earlier. Very happy with it.
I only purchased this thermostat as my ~15 year old thermostat dropped support, hence no more remote control. This one does what it’s supposed to do with many caveats: - display is constantly brightly lit, which shines annoyingly into the bedroom from the hallway. I’m looking for some dimming film to put over it. The old thermostat only lit when you touched it which makes more sense and uses less power.
- thermostat attempts to maintain the exact temperature but this results in too much cycling of the air conditioner which increases wear. The old thermostat had a two degree variance allowed which meant it would only kick in when the temp varied by 3 degrees which was barely felt. This should be a customer setting.
- the “c” wire adapter included is a wasted expense if you don’t need it, and most systems don’t so it’s just landfill material now.
- this model comes with one additional remote sensor which in theory would allow you to target different priority for different rooms. However in practice it’s hard to see it’s usefulness. It can’t be used for zone control, you have to buy a whole separate thermostat for that. Also it attempts to be “smart” by either averaging between one or more sensors and the main thermostat itself, or prioritizing based on where it detects motion. So this means you could prioritize the master bedroom at night and it would manage set temperature for that room, which would be good but since it's motion triggered, it wouldn't do anything while you're asleep. Also, you can't have a separate set point for the remote(s) sensors, only the main thermostat.
- The app only shows the actual temp at the thermostat, not the remotes ones without going three menu's deeper.
- the app shows how many hours your system runs, but only total per day. My old thermostat showed by hour which was much more useful. It also showed it via graph with the outside temp also graphed alongside it. Again, way more useful.
- The app also allows 'geofencing' whereby when your phone senses you have left your property. A good idea but in practice not very practical. It should only work if 'all' who live in the house have the app and all are tracked as away. Else the one person who turns it on changes it for everyone.
*most* of these issues could be solved with software updates to either the app, thermostat, sensors or all three. I have a Tesla which gets updates on the average of every couple of weeks, and is constantly improving. Unfortunately I have little confidence any of the software will ever get updated by Honeywell for their products especially since there are no instructions on how to do this for this T9 model on their website as there are for other models.
