Documentation for the product is lacking . No information about the built in delays when activating or changing function . Had an internal memory fault 1 week after installation .
I am satisfied with the T9 thermostat. The installation and setup was very easy. Operating the thermostat was very straightforward. The app could use some work. I had to disable security in the app because it constantly errors out with too many attempts. The vacation settings didn't expire properly on one of my thermostats. Setting up a run schedule in the app wasn't too difficult but I couldn't copy the settings to a second thermostat. My biggest complaint is runtime reporting, a timeline isn't available, only daily runtime. The data can't be exported to construct my own reporting, and a web portal would be helpful instead of just the app on a phone.
1. Install instructions awful. Needed to download the new Residio app to get them to work online. Instructions said nothing about that. Had to call tech support to learn this. I guess Residio changed procedures after documentation with units was printed.
2. Unit won't control humidity. Need the T10 to do that. This unit should do this as the competition to this unit will do this. I thought when I bought it would control humidity but it won't. My error, but this level of unit should do by default.
3. Display functionality - Nest dims during normal operation and when you approach it illuminates to show temperature. These you have to set display brightness. Why? During the day there is no reason to always display. Go dark, save the display, and illuminate like NEST does when you walk past or approach it. This silly setting display is like the 90's. There is technology to be smarter than that. I want it dark at night when I sleep and you can do this - but it requires extra settings when it really should not.
We'll see how well it works as time goes on. There is room for improvement and I hope through firmware Residio (Honeywell) makes changes to address these two issues. The install instructions are what they are - MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RESIDIO app and forget about the Honeywell TCC app.
I love the thermostat, but love more that I can choose whether to have the remote sensor or main thermostat location or even average the two locations, to determine the inside temperature control for heat or cooling. The only thing is the packed instructions referred to app control on your phone as only iPhone app and I have electronics in the android world. It was confusing getting to the correct app to control the thermostat remotely and required a customer support call. I successfully was able to downliad and now use withe the support I received.
