It’s handy to be able to check what’s happening with the app, but this thermostat seems to have a mind of its own. Geofencing doesn’t work properly so we turned it off and use the set schedule. But we constantly have to check and reset it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Installation was pretty smooth. Initial setup wasn't very hard. I like that the remote sensors come with 3M Command Strips rather than screws; the strips work well and don't damage the wall. The app is OK, but not really excellent. I can't get geofencing to work at all, and schedule changes that I make on the app don't always actually happen on the thermostat. I wish that there was a place to see data collected by the thermostat and sensors, like you get with an ecobee. It would also be nice if the night mode of the main thermostat gave an option to have a black background on the screen instead of white; even at the minimum brightness it's still very present in a dark room; the only other option is to have the display turn off completely. I hope that there are ongoing software improvements to the thermostat.

I purchased 2 of these units and the programming was different. They had different questions upon start up as to the wiring and there was no helpful information that I saw to guide me through the process.

I am an HVAC contractor and I bought this product for my home to see how works so I can start to offer to them to my customers: Well.... I like it cuz it has less features that you can manually change, then the rest it does it all its self. If you want to have a thermostat that works on the old fashion way, well this is not for you! This is new technology that basically you don't have to do anything, you set everything on the app and forget about it.
Now, you can overwrite it but soon will go back to the schedule settings. When I leave home automatically lowers the temperature, but when I'm heading back home, before I get home it comes on automatically via Geofence. So when I get home it's nice and comfortable.

Had no real issues getting the t-stat installed. Remotes were easy too, after getting the routine down. Instructions for connecting the remotes, while technically correct, need to have a little more detail. I found a youtube video that walked me through it, and found that I was overthinking it a bit.
