Good Printer but with lack of important features

I work in a product company with 500+ customers. I started recommending my customers this printer for visitor badges. After ordering around 100+ printers and using them daily, we concluded that this printer only works well with the Color Label App. If you want to use this as a visitor label printer, then this printer is not the correct selection. We paired this printer with our Kiosk app on iPad and visitor printer badges. Once the visitor completes the information, the app sends the printer command to print the badge using Air Print. Problem: after 30+ mins of inactivity, this printer goes idle and does not print the badges. Reconnection or printer restart is needed to pair again with the app. This is a huge task for lobby managers as they need to do this activity after every hour and visitors are also unhappy with the delay. Moreover, the badges are not AUTO CUT; someone needs to swipe on the head of the printer to cut the badge. At last, we tried to contact Brother customer support but got no help from their end. Finally, clients are unhappy with this printer and losing their brand value. Just because this printer is going idle and no one has a solution, we have unhappy clients. Therefore, I don’t recommend this printer for Visitor Management, but you can use the printer label for personal use.

Amazing product

I’ve had my printer for over a year now and use it for my small business. I’ve noticed recently that it’s not scoring the label enough when I print multiple prints at a time to peel up. How can I fix this?

Misalignment and color not the same as app

Tested my new printer and was really excited to get labels I can put on bottles. The labels are great but two things I noticed I am not completely satisfied on: 1. Frames - either the label is off or the printing is... when I do a full frame that should bleed to the edges - the top is cropped a bit and the bottom has white trim. Wish there was a way to adjust frames because I was really excited to use the frames included in the app. 2. Color - Color is more vibrant on the app then on the label - using either Vivid or Standard mode. A true purple color printed magenta and a true pink background printed like a peachy pink color. Also where I tested using a frame - the start of the printing on the right edge looked faded than the rest.

Let me start by saying Brother is a trusted brand, but mines stop working a week after I took it out the box. How do I exchange it?

Terrible wireless printer.

RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In any other direction. Every time I change phone, or the seasons change, or the app updates... EVERY SINGLE time it is a disaster to reconnect this device. Would not take a replacement if it was free.

Tiny, quick to install and use, simple

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I was a little intimidated to set up the machine but when I got down to it, it was as easy as a few steps. You basically plug it in, download the software, and it guides you through the whole process which took me less than five minutes. Nothing scary. You can download a software on your PC or Iphone/Andriod device and it is an editor similar to other products you probably used before. I printed a few labels for several document folders I had, it is a really quick process. I created/edited and printed 5 labels in about 3 minutes and that was with learning the editing software (intuitive). I then moved on to color photos that my wife wanted of us. The size is a little smaller than I had hoped but then again this is a LABEL maker, not a photo printer. It came with a one inch roll of tape but I believe you can buy bigger rolls. This machine claims to use zero ink which I thought was impossible but it really does not require ink. It only requires the special roll of paper provided and uses lasers I guess to print the image with no ink. Very cool technology. And it was simple to set it up to my wireless network so it only requires being plugged in to a power outlet and no other connections. It is so tiny that I can put it in a corner under my desk and it doesn`t take up desk space but it is light enough that I can just pull it up whenever I need to use it. Very convenient and I am impressed with the quality. There is a cool "swipe to cut" feature but that is difficult to explain through text. I`d recommend this to anyone who is interested in printing labels or other "stickers". Very cool device.

Quality is fantastic,

Out of the box it was time consuming to install drivers and software . It’s not plug and play and its not click and print. When I installed the APP on iPad or iPhone you have to go to the wireless settings and select the VC-500W from the available WiFi list, therefore your device is tied up and you cannot switch between apps to do searches , check mail or other tasks. It’s actually a pain. Print quality is unbelievable and right as soon as i got up and running i made some sweet long and short 2” labels.So i am giving a high performance rating for printing only, connectivity and setup, i am giving the device an one star out of five. It’s not worth the money and time.

It's alright cassettes are very expensive

The cassettes are extremely expensive and I can get maybe 10 orders out before the cassette states that it is empty you guys should lower the price or add more paper to the cassettes overall the number of designs on the app is great we should be able to change the color to all the backgrounds not just some the app needs more fonts the printer should be able to connect to all computers tablets and or phones and you all should make the app more user friendly
