Refrigerator is relatively quiet and looks nice except that the door handles don't seem to very fingerprint resistant.

I have owned many refrigerators some were other brands but most were/are GE. They just run - forever.
When we were in the market for a frig for a new condo, I knew we needed counter depth because of the size of the kitchen. My husband was concerned about having enough storage space - we were downsizing from over 25 cu ft. He was pleasantly surprised with the room in our new 21.9 cu ft frig. GE has done a good job laying out the interior of the frig and freezer so there is plenty of room for everything you need.

OK, But A Compromise

Very disappointed that GE no longer offers a BLACK counter depth side by side refrigerator, so I got the next best thing, a black slate one. The color is nice but not what I wanted. I also did not want in-door ice/water, because it limits the freezer space, but no other choice. The interior of the refrigerator is not as wide as my previous GE profile from 2003 because of the shelf design, so it is difficult to put 2 items that I frequently refrigerate together side by side, which was not a problem before, and the door shelves are smaller. The freezer wouldn't hold everything that I took out of the previous one (luckily I have another one in the basement. On a positive note, the interior lighting is very good and it's a good looking refrigerator. I've had it only a few days, but it's working well so far.
Bottom line is that I would have happily paid more to get what I wanted. I've purchased GE appliances exclusively for over 20 years, but this may have to change in order to get what I want when I redo my kitchen in a few years.

New model, same problem(s)

This replaced an older model that we lost patience with...the water dispenser tube constantly froze, took hours to thaw only to refresh again in days. There was also the issue of items in the fridge FREEZING. Correct - anything directly under the vent in the center of the fridge freezes. This is now happening in the new model. How can GE not fix such a significant issue? I am hoping the dispenser in this model doesn’t freeze.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
