I decided to get the side by side this time. Tired of digging around for stuff in the bottom freezer. so far I really like it, especially being able to put tall bottles on the top shelf

largest counter depth fridge we could find

New home and our appliances included are all GE. We needed a stainless counter depth fridge and chose GE as it was the largest we could fine. It works well and matches the other appliances. Ice maker works very well, but almost too well at times- often ice comes out a little more energetic than I would prefer so I end up cleaning the floor!

This refrigerator is very quiet. Our old refrigerator made strange sucking noises and mechanical noises all the time. The ice vending mechanism on our new unit works better than any other one I have ever used. The doors are easy to operate, unlike our old unit, the doors of which were very difficult to reopen if they had been recently opened.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
