Extremely noisy

Not sure if its a defect, the way it's designed, or improper installation but it makes a loud humming noise far too often. Not suitable for a studio or loft. I can hear it while sleeping and sometimes the humming is loud enough to wake me.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good fridge

We love the counter depth as it fits perfectly into the area. The features for ice and water were and easy set up. The downside I have noticed is that food freezes in the back even at the recommended temperature.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Glad to Replace Our Bottom Drawer Freezer

Our PREVIOUS refrigerator was a bottom drawer freezer unit NOT made by GE. It was JUNK, but that is another story that I wont get into. I am reviewing this well-made side-by-side GE refrigerator to coach other seniors to recognize the inconvenience of bottom drawer freezers. Food placed in bottom drawers generally have to be stacked and may be difficult to retrieve. And if ice cubes or other small items fall beneath the sliding freezer rack the drawer may not close. Clearing obstructions may require emptying the freezer and laying on the floor to remove the obstructions. Its not as easy as you might think.

Small and noisey

I like the look of the refrigerator but it is counter depth so there is unusual space on the inside. It is supposed to make some kind of noise when you first start it but mine keeps making that noise a couple times a day. It is like a buzzing sound. The ice also falls into the freezer and not just the ice bin.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi - Thank you for providing feedback on your new GE refrigerator. When the water valve is energized to fill the icemaker or when dispensing water, it will make a very distinct sound for approximately 8-10 seconds. This may be the sound you're hearing throughout the day. Also, your refrigerator comes from the factory with a small shelf positioned above the icemaker. Please make sure this shelf is in place. If the ice continues to fall out of the bucket into the freezer compartment and/or you still have concerns regarding the sound you're hearing, we would recommend having GE service out to check the refrigerator. My fifth GE refrigerator and it is already having the same problem my 7 year old refrigerator had which is the reason we replaced it. So sad and disappointed!

A Lot of Room!

Compared to my other Fridge, this one has 50% more room. It fits perfectly in the spot between my cabinets at counter depth.

Great features but so loud

I love everything about the fridge except the sound. Every time the fan runs with the compressor, it sounds like a helicopter. I had a technician out, thinking I'd gotten a lemon, and he says it's the norm. Incredibly disappointing since I built a small home, and now I have to hear the refrigerator all over the house.
