This generator enables me to camp without worrying about running out of battery power in the trailer and I can also use the 1250 Generator to power numerous devices. It's great for power failures at home and everyday use to conserve electricity normally provided from the grid. GREAT PRODUCT!!!

I bought this generator and solar panels as a backup for my condo. It stays charged even with the lesser winter sunshine here in Wisconsin, and , I keep my alarm system, watch winder, and room humidifier running from the generator 24/7. I am very happy and hope if we ever have a power outage it will be what I need.

I bought this generator as more of a emergency item for when the power goes out. I have had it for just about 2 months now and have used it for so many more things. It is great for camping with lots of people or for a long weekend or week. I also use it when I take my remote control car racing. I plug in 6 R/C car chargers and 2 fans that pull a maximum of 800 watts and the generator handles it all no problem! Great generator as a emergency power supply! Also for anything that needs power on the go (that is, if you can lift it).

This unit is easy to move and also does not take up a lot of space. I love that you can use it in the house with no fear of carbon monoxide poisoning. I like that no one knows I have it and am running it because it is silent.

After 1 year

I purchased this product a year ago from a major camping supply store. Installation is easy. Put up solar panels and connect. The first time I used the Yeti it was to power a circular saw and I blew out the Yeti. It required a new battery. Lesson learned is that it can not handle large amperage loads. No go on power tools. Customer service was great. They shipped a new battery and the Yeti was back in service. This is what I have found using the Yeti on my off grid cabin over the last year. First, we needed to buy a generator to run power tools since the Yeti can't. Second, the Yeti solar panels are disappointing. In full sun, at the right angle, in summer they can pull 15watts, but no more. That means in the winter, with short days and clouds it may take a week to charge the Yeti. Third, they Yeti discharges faster than expected. We run a propane wall heater with a blower on it. After running the blower on and off for two days, the Yeti is about 60% discharged. This is with nothing else plugged in. Fourth, I like the fact that it is quiet, can be operated indoors and you don't have to worry about starting it or having it freeze. So would I buy this again? When we bought this there were no other products like this on the market. I would buy this or something like this again. I like the fact that it is quiet and charges our laptops and phones and powers a set of LED string X-mas lights. I don't like the fact that it really can't do much more than what your 12v car charger would do and I don't like the fact that if you try doing more with it you instantely drain the battery. Finally, they show it as portable. It is not and the wheels on it are useless. It's a good idea, I would buy again even understanding the caveats.

Fair & Balanced Review - Yeti 1250 Kit
on May 22, 2012

Verified Purchase:Yes
Pros: 1) No harmful emissions 2) Quiet 3) Small Size 4) Number of outlets, both regular prong and USB 5) Easy to read display 6) Rear wheels on the unit. (also a Con, see below) 7) Top mounted storage compartment for the A/C charger and batteries. Cons: 1) Being a Lead Acid battery, too heavy. Do not want to place this on tile, very hard to move and transport. Found it somewhat funny that the advertisment photo for the Yeti shows it on a kitchen table. Believe that the photo was a mistake and was only meant for the Extreme 350. 2) Being a Lead Acid battery, will be a small challenge to properly dispose of someday. 3) The 'transport' handles on the rolling frame do not collapse and therefore creates an extremely large vertical footprint. Using two collapsable boat cover poles, after a couple of hours, I created some collapsable handles that work much better and do not require such a fixed footprint. 4) There are only rear wheels on this unit. Would be much better with both front and rear wheels. 5) The input and output plugs on the front seem to attract dust for some odd reason. I fabricated some simple plastic velcroed on covers that go over them to keep them clean. It would be much better if the unit came with attached rubber plugs. 6) Using two Boulder 30's while completely clear skies from 10:00 - 15:00 and making adjustments to the panel placement/angle precisely every hour and 15 minutes, it took a total of 47 hours and 34 minutes to reach a full charge from 60% capacity.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
