Worked when we needed it!!

We never got around to testing the generator while it was still under warranty, But rolled it into a closet with an outlet, plugged it in, and had it ready. When the electricity went out, my husband was going to fire up the gas generator, and all the setup/outside location required, but I pointed out we had this nice, silent product all ready to go, and it was!! Charged out phones first, just in case, then plugged in a lamp and a toaster over and had a nice meal. Way to go, Goal Zero!

I received the Yeti 1250 last spring. Our house has been under reconstruction this summer and the power has been off a number of times. On these occasions the Yeti has kept the fridge, tv and lights running. Very happy with the product.

Very Pleased with My YETI 1250

I pre-ordered my Yeti and received it on the 8th of May. I have yet pushed it to the limits but I can say that as soon as I assembled it I plugged it in to my travel trailer to test it out. I mainly purchased the yeti because I do a lot of overland excursions and camping with the family. We do not always pull in to a place that has power hook ups so I wanted something that was compact and was not a hindrance to set up and use. The Yeti 1250 powers everything in my R-Vision QB23 Travel trailer, minus the microwave. I will say that you have to be energy savvy when it comes time to kick on the A/C unit. We mainly have small window fans to move air around and keep us cool on hot days. The Unit's construction and ease of use is top notch. I would say the handle might need a little ergonomic redesign, but by no means is it flimsy. I would like to see the handle being able to collapse down and telescope up prior to moving it. The only other potentially negative thing I can think about is the battery life span. Not knowing how many battery life cycles I will be able to get from the system kind of worries me but not to the point where I wouldn't recommend this to someone else. With proper care, I think you will definitely get your money worth out of this system. Thank you so much for having such an outstanding company!! Very pleased with the customer service and quality of the product. I already logged back on and ordered some additional accessories and plan on sticking with goal zero to see what else comes out of their research and design. I will definitely be referring this company to all I serve with and with whom ever I talk to. Keep up the GOOD WORK!!!!

The battery life cycles are anywhere from 500-800 cycles. Keep in mind the battery is replaceable so it will keep you powered up for many many years to come.

I brought the Yeti 1250 with the bonus kit during Goal Zero's buy one and we'll donate one (to Hurricane Sandy storm victims). I already had a good gasoline generator but learned from the Sandy victims that gasoline was not readily available for weeks. I had to have an alternative and the Yeti fit the bill. I used it recently when the local power company had to shut down our lines to do repairs. I had my full sized refrigerator (drain of 90 watts) hooked up to the Yeti and it took care of it without any problems. I also had the 4 Boulder 30 Solar Panels plugged in to keep the Yeti topped off. I recommend larger wheels on the Yeti to allow easier movement over uneven areas, stairs, etc and a folding handle like many carrying carts have. The tripod legs need to have a leg spread limiter built in like most camera tripods to make it easier to set it up so that a user dosen't have to worry about one of the legs spreading out to far and the whole thing ending up on the floor.

Great product but needs some evolution
on December 10, 2012

First let me say I love this product. I have a deer camp with no electricity, 45 miles to the nearest town. so it's either the loud petrol generators and scare every deer in the vicinity or use the Yeti and leave a very small audible footprint. I have compared this product to other portable solar options and the yeti is by far the most evolved, but with that said, there are some issues, but mostly with the accessories. The tripod is not well thought out. There is no horizontal 360 degree stability, the nylon bands are not effective if you are located on a rocky surface. The panel clips break and, they do not line up with holes manufactured on the boulder panels. The yeti cart is not telescopic, and not easily transported. I could see it being such, if Goal Zero had simply manufactured a brace on the handle to mount the panels. Other than those small issues, I believe you get a good product for what you pay. I look forward to seeing future versions.

Powers Out, Powers On

This is the best insurance for when the power is out! We had a storm take out our power for a half a day, and we had a neighborhood party, so people could charge up their tablets, phones, under the lights we plugged into it.

Needs to be modified in order to input power from other manufacturers solar panels. In general - very happy with the product.
