Once you buy one, that is it. I was on hold for 20 minutes and no one ever came back to the phone. I still haven't had my questions answered. The product is impossible to move around. The pull cart is in 50 pieces for me to put together and I'm not anxous as the reviews were not so great. Very disappointed.

I purchased that 'solar generator' online, and the yeto1250 is so much better. The other one costs a little more, but had smaller batteries, they were gel cell while yeti has AGM. I ripped out the batteries on the old one when they died & got agms. i had to cut a hole in side and run cord! Now, i also got the charge controlelr to connect the boulder panels to regular agm batteries, as backup. I list the only con as pricey- because the one I built has similar specs for 1/2 as much- but i had to build it, and it isn't as simple plug-and-play as the yeti. In the homemade one, the charge controller is separate from the inverter, i had to wire 12V... etc. So either build one or buy the yeti 1250!!

Having just recieved the product I don't have many comments. So far it works great and seems like a very decent and solid product. I would recommend the product to a friend, but caution him that getting the correct order will take some work.

Goal Zero Yeti 1250 solar generator kit

Needs to be rechargeable by pedal power (bicycle) due to no sun at night, periods of inclement weather, and ...social chaos potentially limiting/interupting solar recharging at times. Then we are talking REAL value and quality. Note...as a logistician was responsible for disaster preparedness (planning) for one of the military services geographic areas of responsibility as well as crisis action teams (responding). Next to water and food, medical and security (all of which can be stockpiled) ...Off grid independent power source the most critical need. Former field grade officer and MENSA member sends.

Good product, bad shipping

I recently purchased a yeti 1250 kit. The kit itself is a great value, but due to poor shipping the product was severely damaged. I recently resolved the problem and got it returned. I am contemplating buying another. It is a great product at a great price which is why I will probably purchase another. Hopefully it won't get damaged ruin shipping. I recommend this to anyone who wants backup power in the event of an outage in your area.

Good emergency power source...

I used this product while camping. I haven't been in an emergency situation where I could give it a real test. To charge the generator I used the 2-4 solar panels and plugged the generator into a power invertor using my car battery while driving to obtain my charge for the next night. I also allowed the invertor to run while the motor was off for about an hour at a time as to not totally drain my battery. I probably could've have let it run more, but didn't want to get stranded. I was able to run a CPAP with humidifier, charge a laptop and phone with about 40% charge remaining in the morning. It provided power starting about 7 pm to 6 am. The solar tripod is a little bit of a problem to set up and take down unless you're going to be in one spot for a while. Mainly an emergency situation. The Tripod could use a bag to carry it along with the clips for the solar panels. Overall, the Yeti 1250 did what I hoped in this situation. I did think that it would last a couple of days without needing a charge, but that was not the case. Now I'm curious how long it will perform at this level, before dropping off.
