I received the Philips Satinelle Advanced epilator to review and I think it's great! I've been using an epilator for the past 10 years and it's nice to see that it has been designed better and is much easier to use. Going cordless and having a long lasting battery definitely makes a huge difference -I no longer have to untangle the ac adaptor cord from the epilator! The various attachments are easy to use and it allows you to quickly switch between epilating and shaving/trimming depending on the body area that you are removing hair from. The built-in light is also handy, but I would have preferred if it were a little bit bigger. Overall, I think this is a great product and I would definitely recommend it!
Pros: cordless long lasting battery, various attachments for epilating/trimming/shaving
I would recommend this to a friend!

I received the epilator as a free sample to test out. Overall I am happy with my results. I used it on my armpits for about a week. I don`t have to remove hair as often anymore, also I don`t have to shave everyday anymore. My armpits feel so smooth after. I`m pretty much used to the epilating feeling now and it doesn`t `hurt` like when I started.

A little disappointed

I was sent a free sample to try and review. While I thought the epilator did well at removing unwanted underarm hair it fell a little short when used on my legs. They did seem smoother but not completely bare and I felt the angle was to awkward and the product too bulky to reach my bikini line which is where I wanted to use it most. The light was a nice feature to be able to see the hair.

I received the Philips Satinelle Advanced Epilator complimentary to try . The overall experience was really painful on my legs . I still had hair left on my legs and ultimately just used a razor . I was not able to try it on my face . When I do , I will post an update whenever I do .

Ouch! But MAYBE worth it???????

I received a free sample epilator in exchange for my honest review of the product. So here is the truth as I see it... Holy ____, this hurts like a ______! I have had three children without the use of pain meds, but dear God, I prayed for an epidural as I used this. Is that water from the shower running down my face? No... those are tears of agony. My husband came in at one point to see how it was going. When he saw my obvious torture, he pleaded with me to stop. But no, I would not be beaten by a hair removal product. I pressed on.
OK... whew... got that out of my system... So here's the less dramatic version of how it went...
I received the epilator and carefully read the instructions. I followed the recommendation to use in the shower with soap. I started with my ankle and worked my way up. Yes, it did hurt. And I feel hurt is closer to the truth than "discomfort" although I will say that some areas of my legs were not as sensitive as others (for instance, calves and thighs were not as bad as ankles and shins). On the plus side: it does roll nicely up the length of your leg; the light is a nice feature, especially in a steamy shower; and compared to the epilators of the early '90s (wire coils), this WAS much more gentle. The downside: After several passes, I still had a lot of hair left to go. I had intended to try some more the next day, but when shower-time rolled around, I 1. Didn't have the guts to put myself through it and 2. Didn't have the time. Since it's summer and I was going to be wearing shorts, I had no choice but to shave my legs before going out into public. This is another minus of the product: the hair has to be long enough for it to "grab" so you have to time it right.
It has now been several days since my experiment... The spots that did get full hair removal are still nice and smooth. And, much like childbirth, the memory of the pain is beginning to fade with time. I doubt I will try this again during the summer months due to the aforementioned hair growth/timing issue, but I'm not a quitter and I do think I may give it a go again during the winter months to see if I can achieve more long-term hair removal.
I may just get those meds first! ;)
Pros: rolls smoothly
Cons: painful

I was sent the Philips Advanced Epilator as a free sample to try out and give an unbiased review. This was packaged very nicely and I could tell it was made of high quality materials. This product is very durable and well made. I liked the sleekness of the product and it was pretty quiet. It did a very good job removing the hair, although it was a bit painful, as expected! It did the job of removing all the hair that I needed removed.

I REALLLLLY wanted to love this

I REALLLLLY wanted to love this, but I must admit, I`m not a total fan. While the design is chic and practical, and I appreciated the two different speed options, the fact it can be used wet/dry, and the guards that come with it, it hurt... a lot. I have a very high pain tolerance so thought this will be nothing and tried it dry at first. It was a pretty acute sharp pain using it on my lower legs, so I waited to try again in the shower. I`ve since tried it three times and I can say it didn`t get any better. No matter if I pulled the skin taught, wet or dry, it was extremely painful for me and not worth it. I also got some red bumps that lasted longer than I expected. I could see that it was pulling the hairs out, but again, not for me. I received this epilator free for an honest review, and unfortunately would not buy.
Pros: sleek design, easy to handle, can use wet or dry, multiple guards
Cons: hurt like crazy

Response from philips.comBy Philips Consumer Care, August 8, 2019
Hi there,
Even though we're glad to see you really wanted to like this, we're sorry that it wasn't quite able to meet your expectations. It's not uncommon to experience some discomfort, when starting out using an epilator, but it generally shouldn't cause the amount you're describing here. There are a few ways to reduce this, so we'd like to advise contacting our consumer care colleagues, so they can investigate and help you with this further. You can find them on Facebook, Twitter, and via the contact page of our website: https://www.usa.philips.com/content/B2C/en_US/support-home/support-contact-page.html/#n62Contact=PERSONAL_CARE_GR%2BFEMALE_DEPILATION_CA. In any case, thanks again for sharing your thoughts here. That's very much appreciated.

Great Product, Love it!!!!

Great product! I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. The box I received came with the Philips Satinelle Advanced Epilator, charging cord, cleaning brush, instructions, and two attachment heads. The box was pretty and neatly packaged. I love this epilator! I found the epilator is easy to use. It is easy to clean and can be used wet or dry. The attachments are easy to put on and work great for small areas. I used them on my face. As I have gotten older I have some stray hairs and peach fuzz on my face. This epilator handles my face exceptionally well. I use the attachment for between the eyebrows. It works amazingly.
I must warn you it does hurt a little at first. It is literally plucking the hairs out by the root. The hair does not have to be very long. It did quite well in getting my course thick black hair, and the peach fuzz. I did have to go over a some areas a few times to get all of the hair. With subsequent use it did not hurt as much as the first use. I think because the first time it was getting all of the hair and it grew back in stages. Each time after the first there wasn't as much hair to pull out. It only pinched for a second, and I itched a little afterward with skin irritation. I used some aloe gel and that soothed my skin. The bumpy redness went away quickly and I was left with beautifully smooth skin.
I used it daily for the first 3 days on my legs, and as needed on my face. Now after a week I find I have to use it less often. For the legs it does take some commitment and initial time investment. The results are worth it though. I will use nothing else on my face, and I will continue to use it on my legs as well.
I would highly recommend this product! It is my new go to for hair removal. With commitment and persistence the results are well worth it. My advise is hang in there you will love the results once you get past the first few uses. It is way better than waxing or shaving every day and the results are fantastic.
