Don’t bother!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I replaced my old Scotsman with this poor imitation. Cubes are pitifully small, melting very quickly in a beverage. I always used the cubes from my Scotsman for my frequent parties. Now, I have to add bags of ice to my shopping list! I will soon be looking for a replacement!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had this icemaker for a few weeks. So far it has been very good. Nice nugget clear ice technology. No leaks or problems, output as expected. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the price. I had looked at other brands and a lot were less expensive. However, in reading those reviews, almost all had reported problems somewhere during the time of ownership, a lot within a year or less. So, perhaps you get what you pay for? I won't know about longevity for some time, but so far am happy with the product. I have had other Whirlpool products, and have always been satisfied with them. If this is still working great in 5 years, I could update to 5 stars, but I most likely will have no way to update this, or remember to, or perhaps it outlasts me! LOL

Great Icemaker, but Routine Cleaning Required

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my third Whirlpool undercounter icemaker over the past 39 years. Each has performed flawlessly. Despite filters in the inlet water line, I have had to disassemble the units to clean accumulated mold about every 6 months. Not a bad job, but I'd rather not have to doe it. My understanding is that mold accumulation is a common issue with icemakers not in a freezer environment. Hopefully the additional filter built into this new unit will slow the growth.

Built-in ice maker, 1 month old and still working!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Direct replacement for a KitchenAid that needed a new circuit board. It is exactly the same machine except the Whirlpool model does not have the "fancy" extra door handle (which I didn't like anyway) and this new one has a very easy access built-in water filter. Slid right in the existing space perfectly without a single modification.
