If you want to become familiar with the repair team then this is the ice maker for you. We bought this April of 2022. Since September of 23 this machine has been mostly unplugged except for six technician visits. At one point it was in the shop from December until February of 2024. It worked for about two weeks and quit entirely. Now KA is giving the run around. I bought this based on the reliability of the mixer we’ve had for decades. Save yourself the hassle and expense of this “high end” ice machine and choose another brand.

My second replacement

This is my second replacement. The first replacement lasted 7 years before compressor failed. It is loud in my house which has high ceilings and open area, hard floor; echos. They changed the door hinges which now look like aftermarket cabinet hinges. Makes nice ice though.

Wish it worked

When we put a filter in it started making a horrible noise and stopped making ice. Took the (expensive) filter out and it still didn’t work. We scheduled a service for this week (2nd week in June). So far we are not happy.

We are concerned that the ice maker has been shutting down and all of the ice melts while we are not there for extended periods. The next time we go to the condo, the ice has melted and left a large amount of water in the ice bin.

Superb and ice maker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Replaced an older model of this same KAid that was leaking the Freon after a few months of recharge. This ice maker is perfect, quiet, and produces a full bin of ice in short order. Installed myself in about 30 minutes. Make sure you order the filter at time of purchase, and that it fits this model. Highly recommend this ice maker.

Does not work

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Did not work. Pump was defective. Replacement pump was also defective. I’ve rescheduled a third time to replace it through its warranty.This is a very expensive appliance to not work at all. So far, a huge disappointment.

Kitchen Aid get better computer boards

We had previuosly bought a higer end fridge for our homestead house and the board went bad about 5 year old. Fast forward and we are building a weekend home. We bought this ice maker hoping that was a fluke. 3 months in the ice maker quits cooling. I drain it clean it and try to get it to start working again, No dICE. So I go back home and next weekend not working again. I get paparework for warranty and before I send it in I go back the 3rd weekend and it is full of Ice.My guess it this board will be bad and un replacable at some near point in the futre also.
