Great Icemaker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We’ve had this ice maker for three weeks now and I am quite happy with it. It makes lots of ice in a square format, perfect for drinks, iced coffee, tea and all else. It is nice and quiet. I hope it lasts us longer than our previous ice maker did which was only two years. We have terrible hard water and it is hard on all of our appliances and pipes so we will see how it holds up over time. I hope to be able to repost back a year or two from now with a positive report.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very Loud

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this icemaker and put it in my new bar. It is soooooo loud! Frequently, I hear the water being pumped out of the icemaker into the sink. Then the ice dumping and filling. This is about as loud as the washing machine. There must be no noise muffling insulation built in. They should put decibel ratings on these. It makes ice really fast and is very convenient to have but I do wish I couldn't hear it all over the house!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works great...until it doesn't

I bought this machine 4 years ago and it has been a great product. This week, it slowly stopped producing ice and now the ice plate will not get cold enough to produce the ice. I suspect there to be a micro-leak somewhere and now all the refrigerant is gone. I expected a longer life for something in this price range.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Perfect homeowners icemaker

When it works I love it

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second purchase of the KitchenAid Ice maker. First unit lasted about ten years, trouble free until it just quit. This new unit KUIX535HPS purchased in May 2025 has not been trouble free, it intermittently and randomly powers off. It has done this at least 7 times in four months of ownership. In each case it quits making ice and the ice melts filling the pump tank with no power to pump water out.
When it does work I love it, when we have guest over they love it too because there's always ice available and its perfect for cocktails too. Makes perfectly crystal clear ice cubes.
Tip for buyers- provide plenty of air flow, clean air grills often and level the machine, keeping the unit cool and level means best quality and quantity of ice production. If your water is hard, a water softener is a must have to reduce mineral deposit build up.
