Part went out after only 15 months

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like this product, but it is expensive and a major part only lasted 15 months. Luckily there is a 36 month warranty on the icemaker.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Kitchen Aid ice maker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This ice maker is replacing a 20 year old ice maker, which was the predecessor to the new unit. A few new features on the new unit, the rapid 24 hr. cycle, are nice. So far the new unit is ok. I broke the male nipple at the top of the drain pump trying to connect the drain hose. I had to do a compromise "fix" to get the hose on. I need a new connection the clips or screws in to the top of the drain pump. The old unit was a lemon, and I had constant problems with circuit board and other things. KA finally replaced it after a year of frequent and costly repairs. Overall, the new unit performed ok. The bin level indicator gave frequent problems, and would put the unit in unwanted cleaning cycle. I replaced the level indicator at least 10 times in 20 years. This is unsatisfactory. Time will tell if the new unit is any better.

Automatic Ice Maker that Works

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I order this icemaker in August to replace a cheaper brand the broke after 2 years. I had seen this icemaker work and it fit the dimensions of the space in the undercounter basement bar. Had to be sure it has a pump for the ice maker water discharge. Be sure you order the correct one as the descriptions on all the icemakers are very sketchy on this fact. Had to replumb this a you need to use a hose to attach the discharge water hose. First ice started coming our right away. I have ordered the water filter to see if it works as well. I also ordered the cleaning solution as well. This is very important to clean these icemakers as the hard water calcium can build up and make your unit in operable very quickly. Look forward to using this as it holds 2 gallon pails of ice.
I am always amazed at how expensive these are. A refigerator with icemaker costs about the same. I enjoy having ice when we need it so I hope this will last many years.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Replaced a Scotsman. Much quieter and faster. The only criticism is an annoying sound originating near the top. It sounds like something might be wrong with the unit. Not natural. We turn the unit off during the day to avoid the noise.
