You get what you pay for

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The saying is true - you get what you pay for. If you buy this expecting it to be a collectors item that stays in your family for years - you'll be hugely disappointed. If you buy this looking for a starter train for your young children and have low expectations, now we're talking. Legitimate train sets can be really expensive. This is a plastic kids toy. It does what you want it to though - it stays on the tracks (as long as the kids/dogs don't keep touching it), it moves smoothly, it makes train noises and it looks cute.
It is, however, an all-plastic train and tracks. We've had it set up for a few days and several of the tracks have already broken and they just plain don't stay together well. Also, I accidentally dropped the engine from a few inches off the ground, and the battery cover immediately broke off and is now taped in place.
I got this with the intention of setting it up to go around our Christmas tree. The track is long...went around the majority of our playroom. But when I took several pieces out to make a circle around the tree, while it worked, the train doesn't quite seem to like those 'sharper' turns so sometimes it struggles.
Overall, I cannot complain for the price. My kids, ages 6, 4, 2, are having a lot of fun with it. I think it will be fun to get out for the holidays. We'll see how long it lasts but it might end up being just a decoration.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this Fao Schwarz train set. It even looks beautiful while still in the box. Love the sounds and the realistic details. Its large enough to fit perfectly under the Christmas tree. It was going to be for my son but after receiving it, I decided to keep it for myself, so glad I did. Love it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had so much fun with this train set. First of all, it's FAO Schwarz so the construction is quality. Setting it up and playing with it along with my kids, niece and nephew has been priceless. Love the details and the sound effects as well.

It works great, the sounds are awesome.Easy to assemble and looks great running round the Christmas tree,to start just need batteries.It is not only makes sound but also,lights comes on,that is makes more beautiful.

We always do a train around our Christmas tree. We had a very cheap one that didn't make noises or anything. This train set blows our current one out of the water. It is 34 pieces and comes with 20 feet of track. The width of the track is around 43 inches wide. Included is 4 unique cars. The main locamotive is where the lights and realistic sounds happen at. It has an LED light up lamp.
We just love this set. I don't know who loves it more my husband or my 5 year old.

Fun train set

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This train set was so easy to put together. The pieces are more than enough for us and we have plenty left over for now. We set it up around our Christmas tree and our 6 year old and 21 month old were so thrilled! I love that it not only makes sounds but it also has a light on the front. It is so magical to have it running, especially at night.
