False Alarms

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These sound an alarm periodically and then stop on their own. I have no idea if they actually work. The fact that they randomly alarm and then stop without explanation make me nervous. I need a smoke detector that is reliable, and not easily set off by cooking bacon... this not that detector. Not only did all the detectors go off the first time we fried up some bacon, we also learned how insanely hard it is to turn these off. The "silence" button does not work without an extreme amount of force. This is absolutely NOT what you want to have to deal with when attempting to not burn the bacon.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Fantastic Operation

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have always had the traditional battery operated alarms, I decided to go with this First Alert due to the 10 year battery. I have replaced every alarm I have with this type and now have one on every floor of my home. With children and grandchildren you can not be too careful. The alarm is loud and can be heard from anywhere in the house. The kids have been made familiar with the sound and what to do if it sounds. I have always trusted First Alert and have never been disappointed. I would recommend this alarm to anyone.

Easy to Install

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This smoke detector was easy to install. It's lightweight and looks nice. I like that it has a photoelectric sensor, which is another safety feature. Package states battery (not replaceable) life is ten years. We've had this one for about a week. So far we are happy with the smoke detector and happy with how easy to install it was. Hoping the battery life is real and lasts a long time. We're getting older and I don't like my husband standing on a stool to change batteries every year in all our smoke detectors.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is my opinion that this First Alert Slim Smoke Detector with Photoelectric Sensor is one of the best on the market. It requires no assembly, is easy to install, and is dependable. I love the 10 year battery, so you don't have to worry about changing batteries on a regular basis. I have several other smoke detectors in the house, and this First Alert one is my favorite. I feel very safe with this smoke detector. First Alert is a quality brand, and so I recommend that people buy several of these for their homes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In order to keep your family safe always have a smoke / fire / carbon monoxide detector installed at your home. I liked this one because it is for 10 years. A lot of people don't realize that they need to be replaced. Such an easy item to keep your family safe! It is heartbreaking to hear stories on the news of the house fire that either did not have a detector or the batteries were expired and no longer working any longer. Go for the 10 year battery powered unit so that you don't have to remember to replace the battery when it starts chirping at 2am and wakes the entire house.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the First Alert PR710 10-Year Battery Powered Slim Smoke Detector with Photoelectric Sensor and we put it in our large living room right away. It is very easy to install and we love the "No low battery chirps!" We did replace all of smoke detectors in our home to this brand to upgrade and have a better and more reliable product. We love the 10yr battery and the Photoelectric Smoke Sensor. We just love this brand and we highly recommend and will continue to purchase more for family and for the future.

So easy!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't even have to put the mount up, I just took the old smoke detector down and this one went right in. So nice to not have to worry about battery replacement. Getting new detectors wasn't something I thought about much, but so much peace of mind now that I have. The testing function was very easy and intuitive. Just make sure if you don't use the mount that comes with it that you do flip over the unit and move the switch to "activate" so that the unit powers on. I almost missed that part but caught it last minute.

10 Years of Freedom!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What a great product! Having used First Alert products with great satisfaction for years, I thought I would give this one a go. Hung it on a 30' high ceiling. No more will I have to get an extension ladder out at 1:27 AM to change out a battery after listening to it beeping for an hour, & hoping it would go away. (It never does.)
It's a great relief to know that I won't have to remember to check the batteries every year. Easy to install, & can't even see it up there.
Will definitely be buying more of these to give to my sons for their homes.
