I bought this for my 3 year old nephew. He usually plays with cars, airplanes, and dinosaurs but the ice cream shop was his favorite birthday gift. He likes to ask anyone who comes to visit if he can make them an ice cream. The scooper is easy to use and the scoops and toppings fit nicely together to make special treats. We've had this less than 24 hours, but my 3.5 year old is *obsessed* with it. I'm honestly baffled by how much he loves it. He'll even sit behind it, waiting for us to walk by, so that he can offer us ice cream and make it for us. I guess it combines exactly the right elements of variety (so many colors and shapes and toppings!), delicious treats (ice cream!), the satisfaction of fitting pieces into one another, handling of new tools (scoop and tongs), and control (over EVERYTHING) that he needs.

I rarely do reviews, but this ice cream set is an exception. We are on our second set - only because our dog enjoyed it as much as our kids! Our 6 grandchildren are currently ages 6 to 1. This sits out all the time because it is the one toy every single age enjoys. We even got the ice cream cart to go with it! I've bought it as a bday or holiday gift for other children too as I know they will enjoy it.
I would recommend this to a friend!
