Not what I expected

Lets get it right on description, the panels are not solid wood, but painted press wood, which is easy to see from the screw holes. Incorrect size of surface panels (too narrow and too short) creates gaps that could lead to possible injury for those curious little fingers. Also, there were numerous defects on paint surfaces, especially green panels. Melissa&Doug could and should do better quality control than that.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Easy to put together, lots of room for various toys, train sets, and activities, and most importantly, VERY STURDY!! I knew my 2-year old could not refrain from crawling up on it to access his toys, and specifically sought out a functional table that would hold up to his shenanigans. I am not disappointed.
