Pretty awesome

I am enjoying learning how to use this bad boy. I especially am looking forward to monitoring my health as I get back to exercising regularly. I am having a problem with it not connecting to wifi both at work and at home. I want to download music, but it won't connect. I have researched it online and it seems to be a problem for other too. Otherwise all is great. It has been 18 hours since I opened it up.

I bought this watch a little over a week ago. I am not a very techno savvy person but Have had no problem with this watch at all. I am loving all of the features and learning more every day. I can’t wait to get out on the trails with my new Garmin 5 plus!

Too dark to view
on March 8, 2019

I want to love this watch, but it is too dark for this much money. I need to work too hard to read it. I feel like I should have purchased through Amazon because I am not convinced it will be easy to return......only owned it for 24 hrs.

If the display is too dark you can easily adjust the backlight to make it brighter and also if you prefer, you can reverse the contrast on the watch face to make it more visible. This link will explain how to do it: https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/fenix5/EN-US/GUID-C9A5E731-8826-4AD0-8087-F6E2EAC625D6.html

It just gets better

This is probably my 4th wrist based Garmin device. They have always met my needs for recording activities - and the last two (Fenix 5S and now the 5 Plus) exceeded my expectations. I went to the 5 Plus for a larger face (47mm) and maps. I use it as a watch, activities recorder, and as my primary device for hiking and bicycling navigation. It also integrates to messages and notifications on my iPhone. I looked at the Apple Watch - but Garmin just covered more bases, and I preferred the design and operation of the 5 Plus. The 5 Plus is Titanium and feels lighter than my 5S 42mm device.

Better than Apple Watch
on March 19, 2019

First off it’s durable. Also I don’t like watches that are so tethered to your phone that you constantly receive notifications and phone calls on it. I would just call that a phone on your hand. The Fenix is a watch and that is what I bought it for. Activity wise it is superior to apple. Also the ability to access maps without cell service as with the Apple Watch you have pay for cell service access all of its features. Which in return means the Apple Watch will end up costing you much more in the end. The Apple Watch relies on cell service to access maps. The Fenix does not. Great watch. Garmin killed it with the Fenix series.

So far so good

This was a gift from my wife. It was the one I wanted. I haven’t used it to its potential yet. Just trying to figure it out and connect to a few apps like Strava and MyfitnessPal. So far steps and stairs are working. Many more things to understand.

More Than A Watch!
on March 20, 2019

I have now had this watch for 2 weeks, and it is great. Though to be honest, I have not yet had the opportunity to use it for most of the reasons I purchased it (I have played with it quite extensive, to the chagrin of my wife). I will say that as my first smartwatch, there has been quite a learning curve. Not difficult or impossible, but challenging as there is SO MUCH this thing can do. My only complaint so far has been the accuracy in which it records my use of stairs. It does not always register my ascents. This could be due to the fact that most times I am carrying something when I go upstairs and therefore do not move as I normally do when ascending stairs. Time will tell on it's eventual accuracy. Overall I would highly receommend.
